I have been able to do some work with this wonderful organization that seeks to help low income homeowners with free repairs and upgrades that make their homes healthier and safer. I've been to homes in Denver that were more than 50 years old and in bad need of new plumbing and electrical work as well as basic things like grab bars in bathrooms, working smoke alarms and flooring that does not pose a trip hazard for older homeowners. They bring in an occupational therapist to help identify needs and experts to define the scope of the work, then partner with companies and volunteers to take care of the issues these homeowners would never be able to afford themselves. One couple got a new furnace hours before a sub-zero storm last winter. They are awesome!
