We all make mistakes. Life is about accepting those mistakes, learning from them, overcoming them and not making the same mistake again. Kindness, love, acceptance, understading and respect....for yourself, for others. Shari and the Rebekahs House are changing lives and there is no greater gift you can give someone.....kindness, love, acceptance, understanding and respect. Thank you for all you do!

Rebekah’s House is about changing lives. I believe key ingredients in the “recipe” for a changed life are an honest desire to change, asking for help and support during the process of change. Rebekah’s House offers the support on a very loving and personnel level that is crucial to that process of change. Rebekah’s House is proof that God is working miracles today and I will continue to support its efforts.

I have a daughter that lives in Rebekah's House for the last 16 months. I can't even begin to explain all the wonderful things that the House has done for my daughter. I truly believe that Rebekah's House has saved my daughter's life. It has given her a faith in God and the courage to go on. The women who run the house truly love all the girls, and want only the best for them. They are completely unselfish of their time and love. I thank God every day for the wonderful work that they do.

I remember when Rebekah's House was merely a dream brought to St Paul Lutheran Church in Villa Park with request to provide initial support. Shari Shaver's enthusiasm was contagious, and despite the fact that her project would be several counties away from our church, we believed in Shari and knew she would accomplish her vision. I am very proud of what Shari has accomplished. She is an amazing woman. God has blessed all of us by sending us Shari!!!

Rebekah's House came along and took my daughter and welcomed her with open arms...when no one else would. She has tried to get sober for many years and was finally able to do it with the help of this place. They showed her that God does love her, he has a plan for her life, and that she is worthy of all his blessings. she has turned her life over to him and has celebrated 4 yrs of sobriety! praise god for rebekahs house and the kindness and dedication of the staff he has put there. lm

Rebekah's House works and thrives because of the passion and belief the the staff in the Women of the house and the ministry. Rebekah's House is a faith based ministry, providing community support and more importanly spiritual support. I will continue to refer Women to Rebekah's house because I believe in their mission.

Our ministry, Called On Purpose, had the privilege and honor of doing their pilot program at Rebekah's House. This organization is a blessing and a powerful resource for women who are sincere and have a strong desire for recovery. The doors of this house are open to all women who come with gratitude, acceptance and surrender. During our workshop sessions we were able to see women grow in grace and strengthen their soberiety through surremding their will and life to God. As a non-profit, private organization, that depend on the generosity of others and the willingness to serve; Rebekah's House reaches out not only to the community, but throughout the United States. Spending time to learn about the house and the director's passion to help her fellow sisters will be well worth the effort of anyone who has a desire to pour positively into the lives of women who are in need.

REBEKAHS HOUSE is a valuable resource for the McHenry County Helping Hands orginization. When people are released from the Jail/Prison and need help transitioning into independent living, REBEKAHS HOUSE is an alternative that is offered to them. In most cases the crime committed is related to substance abuse, and to release the person with no support system in place assures a repeat of the same behaviour.

Rebekah's House is a ministry meant to be and all women who find their home there have been drawn there by a Power greater than themselves. Residential addiction services for women are at a premium, particularly in the Northern suburbs. Without RH, many women would not be offered a second chance. May God continue to bless this ministry and the people who work there.

Rebekah's House is a miracle from God. He gave Shari the idea and she ran with it. She gives 110% all of the time. I have never seen a more dedicated person in my life. She has helped so many women to be productive citizens again. She has helped them find jobs, and teaches them life skills that they have never known. She works many many hours and gives so much of herself. Her Husband Paul and Daughter Christina also work very hard so the program can continue to be one of the best. I wish I could win the lotto so I could help them and they wouldn't have to worry about the mortgage or any material things.Thank you Shari & Staff!

I am a recent board member for Rebekah's House. I have no real skills to bring to the board except my time. I help wherever there is a need. I have done thursday night "woman to woman" and have painted and even made curtains. These are practical things and help make the house more of a "home" for the women who come to live there. Shari is a driven person, who feels that her sobriety was a gift from God and that she has to give back to the women who need her help. Because she has been in their shoes, I feel she is the best person to now be able to testify to them what life can be like, "on the other side." The constant struggle to try and pay the mortgage and supply the basic needs for the women, is an on-going issue for the house. Some of the women need counselling and many have been victims of one kind of abuse or another. To have the money to give them the help they need, is something Shari is working towards and with the Lord's help she will get there.

My experience with Rebekah's House and it's founder Shari has been one of the most uplifting times I've spent. I have offered my time and services to Shari on a couple of different levels. The devotion to theses women that Shari, her husband and staff have is incredible!! I have never seen anyone give back so much as Shari. God Bless her, her family and her beloved "Rebekah's House".

I know this, that Shari and her husband Paul are very hard workers for these ladies who have no where else to go to get sober and be set on the right path to freedom from their addiction. They have strived to make a safe home for them and have many successes. They both put in a lot of hours in trying to maintain Rebekahs House and raise the funds necessary to keep it going, especially since the State has cut off a lot of resources. God bless you both for the wonderful work that you do.

I am aware of this non-profit via my church. The work Sherri, her husband and others do is beyond amazing. She is saving women, one at a time, from the depths of addiction. If I had a magic wand, and became queen of the world, I would insist that every community have what Sherri has created available, to those in need.

I taught a class to the residents of Rebekah's House on money management. Two weeks before the class the residents were asked to keep a log of their daily expenses. The evening of the class we reviewed the logs and developed a plan for better money management. Most of the residents that spend time at Rebekah's House have fines and court costs that need to be paid. One lady had a few thousand dollars in costs. She was overwhelmed by the amount and had decided in her mind that she was unable to pay the amount. She just knew her Dad would pay it for her. That is counterproductive to the recovery process. We developed a plan and budget an amount weekly to cover these expenses. I am pleased to say that she paid off her fines and court costs, is no longer on probation because of that and is now living on her own and is still sober after 2 years. I think Rebekah's House is a great place for women to make that transition from first becoming sober or clean of drugs and alcohol to independence. Rebekah's House helps the women learn the skills they need to make it on their own.
