I have been volunteering with RSR for a year and a half now. Not only has this facility allowed me to gain confidence I never knew I had, it has helped me find my love for helping kids. It is truly amazing to see the amazing work horses can do for children with a variety of disabilities. I am now finishing up my undergraduate degree in disability studies and human development, as I am applying for graduate programs for nursing.

Ready Set Ride has been a wonderful home for my entire family, including and especially our rider. We started riding when my son was 3 (he's now 9) and we've loved the chance to watch him grow physically, intellectually and emotionally under the warmly direct coaching of Lisa, her teammates, and her volunteers. Over the years, Ready Set Ride has worked to cultivate a full-farm experience that welcomes all - our littlest loves the chickens, goats, donkeys, ducks, and mini horses! - and provides a safe place for each human, no matter what their role, to BE. All are seen, heard, and valued. We feel lucky to have the gift of Ready Set Ride's beautiful humans and horses in our life.

I started volunteering at Ready Set Ride about 3 years ago. It started out as a way for me to give back to my community while still in high school and now has blossomed into so much more. I have been riding for 7 years and help with the SCORE program at my school so this was the perfect fit. Witnessing the positive effect this program has on the students is the most rewarding thing. For many of them, this is the highlight of their week and I am so grateful to be a small part of it. The barn is a welcoming environment that gives opportunities to everyone and especially those who have been pushed aside in other aspects of life. I am forever grateful to be apart of this non-profit.

Ready Set Ride has been helping those with Special Needs in the Plainfield Community and beyond for over 20 years. It is truely a one of a kind facility that engages students through Equine therapy, as well as other animals. Being on a horses makes those students who can't walk, mobile, it engages their core muscles and all of their senses.
Being a volunteer there is very rewarding! Ready Set Ride relies on an army of volunteers to do Equine and animal care plus help with Student Sessions!
It has made a huge impact on the lives of many people with Special Needs who have participated in the program and those of us who have volunteered there

Ready Set Ride is a great place to volunteer. Not only do you get to help kids with disabilities get physical therapy on rt horseback, but you also learn valuable skills in animal care and event planning. This is an all-around wonderful place to be.

Ready Set Ride has helped disabled children and young adults for 22 years. They survive on a shoestring budget which is 100 % donations and the barn is maintained by volunteers. 100’s of locals with disabilities come through the facility yearly. It’s been a privilege to be a volunteer here

One of the best nonprofits to be part of. Ready Set Ride provides much-needed service for the most vulnerable of all clients, children with special needs. Glad to be part of such a great organization.

An amazing program that helps not only the riders, but also the animals and volunteers! A life changing experience for every living soul that experiences it! Great quality of care for the animals and for the riders. Very rarely turns any person or animal away, they are always willing to try and go the extra mile.

I am a relatively new volunteer for this organization, but already can't imagine being away from the barn for very long! I love the fact that "disability" turns into "different abilities" when our riders are on horseback. The growth that I have already witnessed in several of our riders really shows that Lisa and Celine understand that significant physical and mental strides can be made by our riders while learning how to ride a horse. Some of our riders also enjoy participating in animal care while promoting their independence! If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity to "give back" to your community, both physically and emotionally, then this is the place to be!

Ready Set Ride is a "fill you up" organization whose mission is to provide equine therapy for individuals with a variety of different needs. As a volunteer for 4 months (which I plan to extend through my lifetime), I am constantly learning about both equine needs and the needs of our riders. The care that Lisa and Celine provide for their animals is outstanding and their knowledge about the appropriate pairing of a horse with a rider is amazing. The smiles from riders and families alike are a testament to the joy that they experience being one with their horse.

Ready Set Ride is an excellent facility; their work enriches the lives of others. The classes are thoughtfully prepared allowing students to build upon previous sessions and continuously succeed.

I've been volunteering at Ready Set Ride for a few months now, and I have to say, these folks are in it with all their hearts. Whether it's caring for the horses or working with students, there are so many passionate volunteers and staff members trying to make this program the best it can be (even in the "off-season" for the winter). Lisa and her crew really do put their all into this program, and I can't wait for lessons to resume to see how we do with students again in the spring!
