Mission: To mobilize the community to improve student achievement by creating a community-wide priority on literacy for children from birth to age eight.
Programs: Care: child care - of the 103 infants/toddlers participating in care: child care, 83% performed proficiently in communication, 96% in gross motor, 91% in fine motor, 94% in problem solving, and 92% in personal/social skill development according to end of year asq-3 screening. Overall environment rating scale scores in care: child care sites improved from 4. 8 to 6 on a 7 point scale, over two years of the program.
aarp foundation experience corps small group tutoring - rtsb introduced experience corps small group volunteer literacy tutoring in the 2016-17 school year. Rtsb recruited, screened, and trained 41 mature volunteer tutors over the age of 50. They were deployed in 41 kindergarten through 3rd grade classrooms across three low-performing buffalo city schools. These volunteer tutors provided 2500 hours of tutoring services in each school to a total of 370 students. Buffalo's experience corps program at read to succeed buffalo outperformed its cohort nationally; with 80 percent of our students improving one proficiency level of more in their reading ability.

RTSB is a top notch organization with a staff and board most highly dedicated to it's cause. The Organizations mission supports a critical need in providing young children the critical skills needed early on in life for success in their overall educational and lifetime endeavors. I am highly respectful of the organization and all it has done and plans to do in the future.
