Mission: The mission of reach (reading enriches all children) is to support the literacy needs to at-risk and homeless children. Reach provides a read- aloud program and new books to children in homeless and domestic violence shelters.
Programs: Shelter read-aloud: reach provides volunteer readers to eleven different homeless shelters and partner organizations throughout the community who share their love of reading by story-telling and crafting activities. Each child in attendance receives two new developmentally appropriate books each time they attend a read-aloud session.
growing readers: reach supports the literacy needs of at-risk children and youth by bringing quality, lightly used books to classrooms and other community programs where children need access to books. Anyone who works with at-risk children can receive gently used books for free to give away throughout the year from the growing readers program.
children's museum: every child who goes to the children's museum receives a gently used book to take home with them. Reach has given away thousands of books through this initiative.
