Mission:
The Raytown Arts Council works to coordinate the efforts of community leaders, business interests, artists, civic organizations, and area schools.
- To bring to the Raytown community innovative opportunities to enjoy, appreciate, and participate in the creative arts.
- To bring performances of music, dance, and theatre to the Raytown community and arrange for an appropriate venue for the enjoyment of the visual and literary creative arts.
- To recognize and honor student and adult accomplishments in the creative arts.
- To support a comprehensive creative arts program as a fundamental element in the schools'' program of instruction.
- To provide continued support of creative arts events produced by schools in the C-2 District.
Programs: The Raytown Arts Council has been operated by a group of dedicated volunteers since its inception in 1995. The board oversees all the activities as well as the budgetary needs of the organization. Typically, the Council hosts three major activities a year; a spring art festival, a summer musical, and a fall salute to veterans. Expenses for the council regularly include facility rental, licensing fees, set construction, equipment rental, and stipends for the directorial staff of the musical. Income consists of donations, ticket sales, and fundraising.
