Rawhide Youth Services

I have been a supporter of Rawhide for 20+ years. Having the opportunity to meet with the boys and hear how their time at Rawhide has changed their lives is extremely rewarding. Attending Starr Academy enables the boys to attain grade level- turn their lives around and become contributing members of society. Many also continue their education in post-secondary education, hoping to become nurses, mechanics or welders. I have also had the opportunity to meet past recipients and hear how their lives were inspired by their time at Rawhide and that they are now able to enjoy a life they did not vision as a youth. Helping the youth realize there is a successful path for them in life and they deserve a positive support system is one of the most fulfilling missions I have experienced.

Rawhide is doing great work to support youth in need. Their many programs, educational and therapeutic services address the needs of so many troubled young people. The summer fish fry is fun and tasty, and it's good to see the teenagers working to provide food service for the public attendees - and practicing their social skills as well. The spring gala at Lambeau Field was so professionally presented and provided a lovely evening in support of a worthy cause. The Rawhide organization appears to be very committed to helping young people become healthy productive citizens -- what better goal could there be in today's world!

Rawhide Youth Services provides programs that addresses the underlying trauma that cause mental health concerns and behavioral issues. They take a scientific and compassionate approach to providing the tools a youth needs to gain resilience, practice emotional self-regulation, and manage the stressors that come with life using healthy coping skills that set them up for a much brighter future.

The spirit of Rawhide gives me faith in the future of our youth.
The events, the gala, fish fries and tours are just so uplifting. Rawhide is a gem hidden in Northern Wisconsin.

The Oneida Nation of Wisconsin has financially supported Rawhide Youth Services over the years toward providing Educational and Human Development of youth in the community. We have toured the facility which is well-maintained and well staffed in delivery of their Mission. Our Native American youth have benefited from Rawhide accessing essential services toward positive direction in preparation of adulthood. There are so many great nonprofit companies, but Rawhide Youth Services is one of a kind. What really stands out for me is how Rawhide uniquely helps troubled youth. They look at the entirety of the person rather than the physical and mental side of things. The services also incorporate the often left out spiritual component of the human person. Through the Rawhide approach, many youth have found authentic healing.

Rawhide has so many great programs to help youth realize their potential. I was blown away when I visited their campus in New London this past summer. It's an extremely positive, impactful organization!

Rawhide Youth Services is truly providing life-changing services to at-risk youth. The success stories from those who have had the opportunity to go through the program make that very clear to anyone willing to listen. Our company recently had the privilege to partner with this amazing organization. Our exploration of Rawhide Youth Services began with a tour of the campus. I left that tour with mixed emotions, both grateful for the ability to help support their mission as well as a heavy heart and tears in my eyes for the stories from the youth that are in need of this program. Everyone desires to have a second chance in life and I believe that Rawhide is providing the at-risk youth with the support and tools to confidently do just that.

Thanks to various programs and donors, Rawhide has helped thousands of youth that have either lived on their campus or received services through their counseling clinics. Whether it's equine therapy, playing catch with the baseball, or just simply sitting around a bonfire at night...through connecting on a personal level Rawhide Youth Services strives to change the lives of these young people so they can be contributing, successful citizens in the communities in which they live. I'm amazed and overwhelmed by the staff and the entire Rawhide Youth organization...they are top notch, and truly care for the kids!

I cannot speak highly enough of Rawhide and all the work that they do. The passion, love and commitment is evident in every staff member you come across. Growing up in New London, WI I had a front row seat to seeing the impact that Rawhide had on not only the individuals they directly serve but also the community. I made a couple friends who lived at Rawhide who would attend our high school and I learned very quickly that home is more than just a typical three bedroom one bathroom house in town with 4+ family members. Meeting a variety of individuals who have changed their path in life because of Rawhide, to the employees of Rawhide, I have met some of the most compassionate, strong and committed people. I think everyone deserves someone who will listen and who will take the time to help guide them in the right direction and I have seen Rawhide do this plus much more than I think words can explain. The amount of lives they have changed leaves me speechless and I can't say enough great things about this organization. Thank you Rawhide for everything you do!

Rawhide Youth Services has made an incredible impact on the lives of many kids over the years but the last year and a half has been absolutely incredible! Just this month Rawhide and their fifth equine center in the state where they work with kids who have suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety and other mental health struggles. I have seen first hand the vital impact they are making on lives. This programming is so powerful because kids are able to build trust and connect with a horse who does not judge them and this has an incredible impact on their ability to then connect with a therapist. This organization os powerful, passionate and they are saving lives!!!

This is sick!!!!! What the heck is going on at this place?! Many people are starting to come forward about their issues with Rawhide and this is just awful!!!! Where is the staff? Where is the confidentiality agreements?? This is not a helpful place at all!

Rawhide does such amazing work with our youth. They have one of the most beautiful campuses and also now they are working with both males and females. Keep up the great work.

I purchased a pontoon boat from Rawhide,When I went to pick it up I notice the axle on the trailer was bent quite badly.I tried to straighten the axle but was very difficult.One of the workers in the garage suggested we use their front end loader to get under the trailer and bend the axle straight with the forks.It worked perfect and was able to pick the boat home with no problem. This company does wonderful work with the youth and deserve a high rating for what they do.I wish we had a outfit like that in Canada for troubled youth. Good outfit and really great employees.

I purchased a 17ft fishing boat based upon their description and survey. The transaction was seamless and handled professionally. Upon putting the boat into service, I found it far exceeded their conservative appraisal resulting in the best purchase I have made in decades. They even helped post sale with securing title for the trailer. Anyone contemplating a purchase from Rawhide Inc can do so with upmost confidence.

I couldn't have been happier with my transaction. I bought an MG to restore. The car is in rough shape; but it was exactly as described! It took about 15 minutes to pay and receive the title. The staff could not have been nicer and were genuinely pleased that I was helping "the boys". When I got out into the yard, I started trying to figure out how I was going to get the car on the trailer by myself. I heard a piece of heavy equipment start up and saw a front end loader with 20 foot forks coming toward the car. In barely a minute, the car was sitting perfectly centered on my trailer. All I had to do was tie it down!
For a guy who grew up in the 60s, the Bart Starr exhibition was almost worth a trip by itself.

I bought a nice used boat from Rawhide. They were very helpful in describing the boat and its features. They helped get it hitched to the truck and made sure it would survive the 2,000 mile trip from Wisconsin to New Mexico. My wife and my experience started a number of years ago. We first donated a dirt bike. Then donated our ten year old 22' Bayliner rather than sell it. We delivered it to camp. The staff took us on a tour of this fine facility and explained operations. When I ,as a Legionnaire,was working at Camp American Legion Rawhide had a crew at Legion Camp doing volunteer work. I was so impressed with the crews work ethic and discipline. In the past 15 years we have also donated a Suburban and GMC pickup. I was one of those troubled kids many years ago. There wasn't an organization like this then. We want to be sure of their continued success into the future.

I've purchased 3 vehicles over the years from Rawhide. Their assessment of the cars condition is always accurate, I've been pleasantly surprised on all 3 purchases. Plus, the money is going to a terrific cause. Keep up the great work, Rawhide!

In a period of 3-years, I've had the opportunity to purchase a snowmobile & a small runabout - speed boat from Rawhide, nonprofit. The transaction, and communication - in my experience - were top notch, when I visited the Ranch to pick up my purchase I was more impressed with their operation. The internet fund raising site is a very small, yet integral part of the greater service they provide. The history museum in the office area tells a great story of why they exist. Weather you are looking to buy or donate from/to Rawhide I feel your transaction is very worthwhile, The children they support are truly the benefactors, as a matter of fact, I feel they are doing something so noble, a cash contribution would also be very worthwhile.

I've been aware of Rawhide for all the years of their existence and have been regularly donating to them for over 35 years. The work they do to push young men to recognize their own potential and set their lives on a path to success is truly remarkable.
Rawhide is proud to use Christian principles in their program even though there have been several attempts over the years to damage them financially for adhering to this mission.
The records show that the young men who participate in Rawhide's programs are more likely to remain out of the justice system. Rawhide's successful model should be studied and repeated!

Rawhide is the best non profit I've ever seen! Helped so many troubled youth become great men and community members. I should know because I am one of those men because of Rawhide. I was there from 97-99 and am a huge supporter. Life is amazing and God is great! 5☆☆☆☆☆ for Rawhide! The proceeds go for a great cause :)

We where Iola car show a nd put in for somee of your prize was called and said we won tire proudcs. Never received productss and never heard from you people again. That is not a very good way to run a contest and hen not send products .

My husband and I were houseparents for almost 14 years at Rawhide...I am now now a widow and live alone. I had a call this morning from one of our former boys checking on how I am doing...what a blessing for me.ho

Rawhide was an answer to our prayers. Our son attended Rawhide from the age of 15-16.5. Every person we came in contact with demonstrated a strong faith and a caring desire to help our son. Our son is now 21 and on a positive path. Rawhide was very instrumental in this. My parents donated a vehicle after seeing what the organization did for their grandson. They had a positive experience with the donation.

Approximately ten years ago I had the opportunity to tour the Rawhide campus and was completely awestruck with the facility, staff and most importantly the young men they serve. We were able to hear and see first hand how they had changed the life of a young man whom was graduating from the program. A young man that without the help of Rawhide was destined to life on the streets or prison. Honestly this was one of the most powerful experiences of my life. I have supported Rawhide since both as a volunteer and financially. If presented the opportunity take the tour, chances are it will change your life as well.

I have known about Rawhide since it's inception almost 50 years ago when it was established by John and Jan Gillespie. Even before that time, they worked unselfishly with youth to give them purpose and meaning as well as providing spiritual needs. I have know some of those that lead and direct the programs at Rawhide as well as those that carry on day to day functions. I am 100% certain the efforts made by all these people are sincere and fully supportive in meeting the mission statement adopted by Rawhide . I donate by regular bank drafts monthly and only wish that I could donate a lot more. Living nearby I see the difference in the boys and that makes me so grateful that Rawhide exists.

I have lived within a short drive of Rawhide all my life. I had a cousin that was a troubled teen and was a member at Rawhide some years ago. It was very impressive to see the change in his life after spending time at Rawhide. It completely changed his life. I have been a donor for many years because I truly believe that what they are doing for troubled youths is invaluable. These kids have a second chance at life because of the Love and Care they receive at Rawhide. Keep up the Exceptional work.

Rawhide has a long, established history of helping young men get on a safe and healthy life path. They do difficult work and help guys who really need it. It's a difficult, but much needed service Rawhide provides for many boys.

We have had 2 cars that were not needed by our family. The cars had some issues and were not of great value to us. We donated to Rawhide in a simple and quick manner. It was easy, the cars were picked up and we could use the value for our taxes. We are gratified that Rawhide will obtain value and put the money to good use. We will always use Rawhide for donations.

Donating my vehicle to Rawhide was easy and, amazingly, convenient. I spent a few minutes on their web site researching what was involved. The site clearly outlined the process and described what I needed to do.  I then made one phone call and the Rawhide representative gathered all of the information.  That was it. A tow truck came to my home a few days later (a date that was convenient for me, not the towing firm) and took the car away.  I chose to donate my vehicle to Rawhide because I feel strongly about the work they are doing with young men who are motivated to make positive changes in their lives.

We have donated 3 items to Rawhide over the past few years. In one case when we donated a popup camper we delivered it to Rawhide. When we arrived, a Saturday, one of the teachers offered to give us a tour of the entire Rawhide campus. Needless to say it was great. Rawhide does a great job and it really is a wonderful place. If you ever get a chance, go and see the campus you will not forget Rawhide again. Also, keep donating items they need them

I found out about Rawhide Boys Ranch when I was just a teen, even before they opened the doors. Little did I know I would need this program for my son 30 year later. In trying to get my son into this program, I even tried to start this program in the Milwaukee County, just before they finally did sign the contract for Rawhide, called OKKids Corral. Eventually, when I did find out they did sign the contract, we changed the gender to be helped for girls. Eventually we did, through prayers, got my son into the Rawhide program. They where Awesome with him & cared so much for him that he then turned around and through the chances of speaking about Rawhide, was able to help others. Was one of the Keynote speakers for the Governor's Conference on Volunteerism in 1997 & the Only one that had a Standing Ovation.
My son did have his ups & downs in LIFE after graduating from Rawhide, but he always Loved the care he received from them. My son still had one "demon" he just couldn't kick & he took his Life just this last April, 2014. Even then, those that knew Nick while he was there showed me & his wife concern by coming to his funeral!! Pag & Rog Hermsen came to pay their respects to Nick! It was Awesome to see them!! God Bless them & Rawhide Boys Ranch for caring so much for my son!!

Have donated repeatedly to Rawhide and they have always operated in the most professional manner possible. I also have personally known various members of the staff who have worked there from time to time and have always felt they have chosen very good people to work for the operation. That shows in their performance and success!

I attended rawhide as a troubled youth. My life has never been the same.help me build a solid foundation in my life.helped me with school to further my education.even filled my fridge with food. Words can not dedcibe the good they can do in peoples lives.please support this loving organisation.with out them kids may fall through the cracks and never find there way out.thank you rawhide

In the last 7 or 8 years that I have been involved, first as a consultant, and then a board member, I am very much impressed with the dedication of staff and board members to help change the lives of these young men. The expertise of the staff and the loving surrounding they are nurtured in, helps the young men realize that good does exist out in society and that they are indeed a very special child of God and they are loved. The young men we get today are more damaged than ever, and need Rawhides help and also their families.

I have donated twice to Rawhide and both times very happy with the results. I donated a van and also a older motorhome. Would tell everyone that it's a very good way to recycle a vehicle that they are not using anymore and help a great cause.

My business has worked with Rawhide since the beginning of the vehicle donation program as a drop off location. I have also made yearly financial gifts. I have found Rawhide to be one of the best organizations we are involved in - I have found the staff to be giving, caring and dedicated to the youth they serve. Rawhide changes the lives of the troubled youth and the families they serve. Rawhide serves the youth and surrounding communities in such a positive way that we are honored to help support their mission.

My husband and I live in Lacrosse, WI. We had a "well-used" car that we were interested in donating to Rawhide if they were interested in coming this far for it. We were prepared to wait a while, but even during a holiday week, they were here within 3 days ! It was a very easy process : I called and spoke with a woman who took down all the details, explained the process to me, and said I would hear from the driver soon. I heard from the driver scheduler that same day, and the car was taken within 3 days ! It was a very easy process....we got a receipt for taxes, and they/Rawhide were most grateful. It really felt good to help - and it helped us too (not having the hassle of advertising, selling, etc.). We highly recommend this to anyone.

My wife and I have been Rawhide volunteers for 33 years. During that time, we have donated two vehicles, made frequent financial gifts, and devoted numerous hours in support of Rawhide's mission. For us, the mission of changing young lives, from troubled youth into responsible citizens, is vitally important to the future of our country. Rawhide is a blessing to the boys and families they serve. We can think of no better place to offer our time, effort and financial support than Rawhide Boys Ranch.

I offered my 1993 Ford Explorer to Rawhide - they picked it up and returned it two days later with no explanation other than, "We don't need it at this time." Yes, I had the paperwork in order. So I called the American Diabetes Association. They picked it up, no questions or problems.

Over the past 20 years, I have donated several vehicles to Rawhide. The process is easy and a lot less hassle than attempting to sell. The tax write off helps, but the true value comes with the satisfaction of helping support a most worthy organization and their ongoing work.
