This organization is an amazing group of volunteers that goes above and beyond to help and support families of the missing! I have gotten to know them over the years, first, when they searched for my missing mother back in 2013 on several different occasions. They really were wonderful with comforting us through a difficult time for our family! They even came out and searched on Mother's Day... sacrificing time with their own families to search for our missing mother! I got to know them better as the years went on, and they supported me and encouraged me when I was thinking about starting my own nonprofit, which also helps families of the missing. I have continued to work closely with this group ever since and have referred many families to them for help! The community is very lucky to have such an amazing resource to help search for missing persons! I am very grateful to work with such a dedicated group!
Rapid Search and Rescue is absolutely amazing! My son went missing over 3 and a half years ago. The organization reached out to us very early on and first assisted us to put together a missing persons flyer. They then assisted in multiple searches including water searches! They have been absolutely wonderful to have along side of us throughout this extremely difficult time in our lives. I’ll be forever grateful for all they’ve done for us!
I've had two direct experiences with this organization. Both were positive. The first interaction took place the year Rapids Search and Rescue was founded. They provided support in the search for a friend of mine who went missing. Even as a new organization, the impact of their involvement was immediate and profound. They turned a chaotic mess of civilian volunteer search crews into an organized, systematic and efficient team. Rapids Seach and Rescue also committed to and stuck with the family's search efforts well beyond the timeframe anyone would have expected. My friend was missing for months- it turned out he had fallen through thin ice on a lake, which had quickly refrozen over him. I firmly believe that if his body would have been accessible to humans or K9s, the efforts of Rapids Search and Rescue would have given my friend's family closure very quickly. Even with the circumstances of my friend's situation, their compassionate and thorough assistance was a great comfort to the family and friends during a difficult time.
My second interaction with Rapids Search and Rescue was last year and involved their internet based assistance. After learning the partial name of a half sister I'd never known I had, I made a post on social media mentioning my desire to find her. The parent we had in common was deceased, and I had no other sources of information. A volunteer reached out to me and immediately launched into work. She thought of things I never would have and researched databases I didn't have access to. She dug up marriage certificates, military records, news articles, and photographs I had never seen. My sister was found within four days of me first learning of her existence. And I have Rapids Search and Rescue to thank for that. I was never charged a dime for their help. But it's worth more than words can say.
Rapid Search and Rescue was immediately responsive when I reached out when our friend Sean Baek, went missing this past year. I was not a client, but a community member and a friend who wanted to spread the word and assist anyway possible in the search for our friend
Rapid Search and Rescue was incredibly helpful, insightful, and on point with the information shared, throughout the time Sean was missing. Rapid Search and Rescue was also right there, to follow through with support, and was truly a beacon of light, when Sean was found an angel.
They are quick and thorough in sharing info on missing people. They update and let us know if the person is found. They are friendly and reply when you ask them questions. One of the best non-profit we as a community has. We are very fortunate to have them looking out for our family members.
I have been involved with this wonderful cooperation since the year it was found back in 2012. We have been able to provide assistance to law enforcement in the state of WI for ground support/IC. We have also provided help to hundreds of family's of the missing in the United States and 4 countries outside of the US
