Mission: Through the love of jesus christ, raleigh rescue mission transforms lives of homeless men, women, and children by ministering to their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Programs: Raleigh rescue mission provides short & long-term programs to help homeless men, women & children receive the care, services & assistance needed to heal & rebuild their lives & re-enter our community as contributing citizens. The mission provides shelter, food, clothing, substance abuse recovery programs/assistance, medical care, mental health care, dental care, & counseling for victims of abuse, violence & other emotionally devastating situations. The mission provides onsite basic education, ged classes, life skills classes, typing/keyboard/computer/web training classes, vocational preparations & training classes, tutors, interview skills training & experiences through an onsite adult education center & assistance in finding housing & aftercare services. The misson also provides onsite childcare for homeless children involved in the mission's programs as well as for children from the community "at risk" of becoming homeless. Without the free childcare provided for the community children, their mothers would be unable to afford to work and therefore at risk of losing their housing. In the past year, the mission helped 1,122 individuals through both the short & long-term programs, provided 156,621 meals & 39,055 nights of safe lodging. In the onsite medical clinic, the mission responded to 2,484 client visits last year. The clinic provides medication management and acute and chronic healthcare. Health education is provided to reduce the symptoms of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension & the spread of infectious diseases such as hiv/aids, tb and stds. The mission's mental health counselor and contracted psychiatrist serve clients who struggle with mental and physical illness and who are chemically addicted. Clients benefit from the affordable, convenient & quality health care provided by the mission. This access to care reduces the number of avoidable health relapses & hospitalizations which reduces the cost burden of uncompensated care on the entire community. In the onsite adult education center last year, the mission held 19,673 student hours of education & training, of which 1,699 hours involved non-residential clients; those that do not have a high school education, can not find a job, are living with someone else temporarily & are "at risk" of becoming homeless. This is one of the ways the mission works to prevent homelessness. In the onsite children's development center, the mission helped an average of 5 preschoolers a day & 31 discrete preschoolers during the year. Each child receives love & education as well as developmental screenings & life changing referrals for professional interventions to help the children overcome potential deficiencies & be healthier, successful in school & avoid homelessness later in life.
