WHP is an amazing organization. I have become more and more involved ever since learning of what they do. Families with children that are homeless due to loss of job, medical responsibilities, etc are given a chance to enter a 9 month program that gets them back on their feet and able to return to society. THese are people that are just down on their luck and need a helping hand to get going again. It is really heart warming to see that you are making a REAL difference in a family's life. They are given educational opportunities, job training, child care, whatever they need to get back on their feet. After 9 months they go into a 2 year maintenance program which gives them the knowledge that someone is there who cares about their success and will help them if they fall. We all need that once in a while and it's a wonderful chance to keep people off the street who really want to work and be independent.
