The work Rafiki Mwema does is extremely important, and the way they do it is highly ethical. Traumatised children are supported using evidence-based therapy, in a safe environment, with the emphasis being on reintegrating them with their family and keeping them in school.

This is not an orphanage, so if you are worried about that kind of 'charity' in Kenya (which is totally fair enough), this is not the same at all. The staff work very hard to locate safe family members who can take care of the child on an ongoing basis, once they are ready to leave Rafiki Mwema. Also, other than the staff in Kenya (who are paid staff), almost the entire workforce in Australia is volunteering, so the overheads are very low and almost all donation money ends up at the right destination.

A great team of people with a common goal and objective; objectives are clear and (as a team) we have a dedicated focus to meet these.

A great organisation to be part of and I take personal pride it what we are achieving as an organisation.

Rafiki Mwema is a great organisation that has helped countless people in Kenya who are vulnerable to the situations they are placed in, such as women who face domestic violence or boys who are facing difficulties with addictions. They give a voice to those who are oppressed and provide safety to those who have none. They have fostered a family environment between staff and people who come in at the shelter. I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to support the organisation as a volunteer, and I have always been respected, provided for and guided throughout the whole process.

I’m proud to support Rafiki Mwema, a charity dedicated to keeping kids safe from abuse and harm. What stands out to me most about this organisation is the authenticity and passion behind their work. The founder, Sarah, and her volunteers are deeply committed to the mission. Everything they do is driven by a genuine desire to protect children and create a safer world for them.

A wonderful charity that does incredibly important work helping children who have suffered abuse in Kenya. With a focus on local Kenyan staff, they provide accommodation, care, safety, and therapy to children who otherwise have nowhere to go.

The children are then assisted through the courts and to heal.

Without this critical help from Rafiki Mwema, these children have no assistance or anywhere to go.

I'm really blown away by the work this charity does in challenging circumstances. Funds that go directly to where they are needed, and a really important mission supporting vulnerable children in Kenya. I love hearing the stories of successes and from the staff doing the work. What a fab Kenyan team!

This charity works around the clock and with almost no funding to provide safety and nurture to those poor children in great need for rescue. I'm really impressed with their work and commitment to the cause
