Mission: Quantum Theatre is a company of progressive, professional artists dedicated to producing intimate and sophisticated theatrical experiences in uncommon settings, exploring universal themes of truth, beauty, and human relationships in unexpected ways.
Programs: Quantum Theatre is an idea born in 1990. Karla Boos envisioned a company that would produce theatre in Pittsburgh that incorporated the influences of world culture and the dynamic trends sweeping through the international theatre scene. Over the past nineteen years, Quantum has realized a remarkable journey producing original theatre throughout Pittsburgh, beyond the city limits to surrounding neighborhoods, and traveling with its work abroad, each production assembling artists in a laboratory atmosphere often including important international directors, performers, and designers. Quantum’s productions of contemporary international plays and updated classics are all staged environmentally in places that aren't theatres. These settings are a reflection of the many sides of the region and are as different from one another as a grand museum, an abandoned industrial site, a pastoral green space, and a waterless indoor swimming pool.
Quantum Theatre provides amazing theatrical experiences in various venues around Pittsburgh. They partner with local merchants and community groups as they did during their most recent production, "Maria de Buenos Aires," in the former East Liberty YMCA. It's some of the most thought-provoking theatre you'll see in this great theatre town. They deserve your support.
