Purr Partners pulled this very angry and frightened boy, and assisted us in getting him to our home, where he is now my husband's very spoiled shadow and best friend. We will forever be thankful.
I started volunteering with Purr Partners (PPFR) in March of 2016 and I'm SO glad I did. It has been so nice and rewarding to give back by helping cats and kittens find their forever homes! My first year as a volunteer with PPFR was spent assisting with the weekend Adoptathons; however, by the summer of 2017 I thought I would try my hand at "temporary fostering." I was quickly given 4 kittens who all found homes quickly. I enjoyed the kittens and was happy to help them, but I realized fostering was harder than I expected emotionally. I wasn't sure if I should continue. Shortly after Lawanna, our president, called and told me there was a momma cat with 5 kittens who needed saving and she'd like for me to foster the momma cat. I quickly said yes as I figured one adult cat would be easier than four small kittens... I had no idea that "Angelica" now "Annie" would be my foster fail! Annie came to me and was very, very timid. She stayed hidden under the bed for almost a month and then one day...she decided she owned the place! She and my other cat, Sophie, immediately became friends. It came time for me to take Annie to an Adoptathon...and I just couldn't do it! She was MY cat and NO ONE was going to take her from me! I called Lawanna immediately and told her I was keeping her!! I'm sooo glad I did. She constantly brings me joy and has been a wonderful companion to her kitty sister, Sophie!
All in all - PPFR has brought me so much joy from volunteering to adopting my own!
I have worked with many rescue organizations, all doing excellent work, but Purr Partners just a head above them all. They commit to a cat for life. In so many rescues when you sign that contract then you are on your own. Purr Partners will always take back their cats no matter what. That is commitment at the highest level. They will work with you to help solve issues and, because all their cats are loved and raised in real families, the foster parents are like Fairy Godmothers who you always have a direct line to.
Foster parents care about each individual cat and often get updates on their fosters for years after adoption. I just can't stress how much Purr Partners and their dedicated volunteers are committed to each and every cat or kitten it rescues. That is why the adoption process is thorough and they insist on indoor only, no declaw homes. It is the gold standard for feline rescue.
This is a wonderful organization, saving cats and kittens from high-kill shelters. The felines have sad stories to begin with, and Purr Partners does their best to turn that around. One of the cats that was just adopted came into a high kill shelter with two kittens. She wasn't using one of her front legs. When she was taken to the vet, it turned out that she had broken bones and buckshot throughout her body. Purr Partners did fundraisers to help pay the vet bills (the cat needed to have her front leg amputated because of the damage), she recovered, and was adopted into a loving home. Lawanna at Purr Partners doesn't give up on the cats and kittens that are rescued. She does her best to give them all of the care that is required, whether it's medical care, a cat behaviorist, and finding the right home for the kitty.

I have been a volunteer for this organization for the past 4+ years. I like the fact that they never give up on one of their rescues.....whether it's fundraising for a special needs cat (as in Pogo, who was hit by a car and had to have a leg amputated), or even getting a cat help from a behaviorist so that the cat can be adopted. I also love the fact that they will take their cats back, no matter how long it's been, if something happens to the adopters. They do not want the cats back in the system of shelters. They do seem to be particular about placing cats and kittens in their forever homes. They do a check, with references, for potential adopters. I see this as a positive aspect for Purr Partners. The organization only wants what is best for the kitties that come under their care.
Such a worthy charity. If you love cats, this is a wonderful organization for donations. We recently adopted Bianca and Noel. We adore them❤️
We went through Purr Partners to choose our cat on the advice of a friend who was also an active volunteer. As the kitties are all well known from being cared for in foster homes, we were able to find a confident and playful girl who fit right in (and now rules the roost) with our high energy German Shepherd. She is the perfect fit for our hearts and home.
We have adopted two amazing kittens from Purr Partners. Both were wonderful from day one with people and couldn’t be happier to have FIFA and Chelsea in our home and hearts
I just adopted a lovely adult girl cat from Purr Partners. The process couldn't have been easier! Because she had been in foster care, I had a great understanding of her personality and even received all of her medical information at time of adoption.

Wonderful organization that truly cares about finding warm, loving and lasting homes for these cats/kittens. I adopted 2 sweet cats from PurrPartners 2 years ago and I appreciate their dedication to making sure these cats are well taken care of both before and after adoption. My home was not complete without my 2 fur babies.
I got involved with PurrPartners with I found 5 kittens that were abandoned. With their help, I was able to get them all loving homes. I was so impressed with the organization that I have been a foster and volunteer for nearly 3 years. In that time I have assisted in finding homes for over 70 cats and kittens. Our adoption process is very rigorous - and not all people agree with our terms. We asked that they always be kept inside, provide regular vet care, provide a safe environment and never even under any circumstance declaw. If a person was denied - it was for one of those reasons. We are so committed to the well being of the cats, that we will take them back if it is not the right situation. This group of volunteers put the kitty's needs above all others. I am proud to be part of this group and admire their dedication to educating the public on the importance of spay and neuter to prevent unwanted births.
A year and a half after our two elderly cats (18 and 20) passed away, our teenage son asked for a "furry friend." He's a cat lover and was going through a difficult time. I wasn't ready yet for a 20-year commitment to any animal, so I suggested we foster with a local shelter or rescue. Animall of Cary put us in touch with Purr Partners and we've been volunteering with them now for over a year. Purr Partners was a great way to get back into pet guardianship, as we were able to enjoy our foster cats until they were adopted and then meet the next one. If you enjoy falling in love over and over, this is for you! Ultimately, we adopted our first "foster fail" kitty and she's brought so much happiness to our home and family. It's a "who rescued who" story.
Purr Partners was wonderful to work with when we found our awesome kitty, Zeke, as one of their rescues. He was well socialized since he was fostered in a home situation, chipped, up to date on shots, and neutered. He has been such a delightful family member, friendly to everyone, and always willing to lend a paw. Purr Partners is very attentive to helping each potential adopter find the right cat or kitten for their home and finding the right home for each kitty. All the staff are volunteers and Purr Partners is operated solely on donations.
I respected Purr Partners and their goals of saving as many cats from high kill shelters in NC so much that I became a volunteer.
I adopted my one of my kitties here. Everyone I dealt with was pleasant, professional and very happy to help my find her. I would recommend this group to anyone looking to add a furry friend to their family.
Please do not be fooled by the negative reviews! If anyone was denied adoption it was for a very good reason. I have volunteered and fostered for numerous animal rescue organizations over the past 20+ years and this is the best one I have seen. The cats always come first at Purr Partners, not the purse strings or publicity which is all too common at many “rescues.” Lawanna has completely dedicated her life to saving cats that would otherwise be killed at NC shelters. No cat is ever denied medical treatment. We don’t give up on cats no matter what medical or behavioral issue they may have. I cannot stress enough how different this organization is. We return messages no matter what, process applications quickly and you can actually speak to a live person! Sure some people won’t be happy. If they lie on their applications or don’t take good care of their pets- it’s true, we don’t want to adopt to them. We try to find the best possible home for each cat that has the greatest chance for success. We are dedicated for life - again, a rarity in rescue these days! All monies go directly towards saving cats and not salaries or marketing. If you love cats this is a wonderful organization to adopt or donate.
My husband and I have adopted two beautiful fur babies from Purr Partners. The founder and President, Lawanna, is the most kind and caring person, who works tirelessly to save every kitty she can. She and her volunteers are wonderful, caring people who do everything they can do to help the cats find loving homes. They feed feral colonies, foster cats until they are lucky enough to be adopted, provide medical care to sick and injured cats. All their cats are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on shots, treated for fleas, and checked out by a Vet. There aren't words to describe how wonderful this rescue is.
I have volunteered with Purr Partners for over a year. I can attest that all of the cats and kittens are cared for to the highest standard. All of our adoptable kitties are spayed/neutered and have all appropriate shots, deworming, flea meds, etc. Frankly, I cannot see a downside to adopting a cat from a reputable rescue like this. As a volunteer, I spend hours a day socializing the kitties and preparing them for their forever homes. This work, that all of us do, gives the kitties the very best chance at a happy, healthy life in your home. I will address the issues I read about from prior comments. As I mentioned, we are all volunteers. Did you know that thousands of cats are euthanized every year in NC shelters? Have you ever volunteered for something 24/7/365? I hope you will forgive us if we are "all business." Spare minutes save lives. We can't have a bad day with the kitties. Please forgive us if you happened to interact with us and we could have explained things differently or in ways that would have felt better in the moment.
If you want someone to make you feel terrible and then not adopt a cat to you these people are great. They're more than happy to give you a sick old cat but kittens are for them and their friends. I've even adopted from them in the past and still have that cat. He's happy and healthy but I wasn't a good enough candidate for a kitten. Coincidentally the kitten was the lady's daughters favorite of the bunch.

Our volunteers work very hard to match people and cats or kittens, unfortunately, not every potential adopter gets the one they want. We strive to be fair to all applicants, but often there are multiple applications for the same cat or kitten. Each application is evaluated for the best match since we know our foster kitties very well. If an application is denied it is for a serious reason that we feel will have a negative impact on the desired cat or kitten. (See our Adoption Policies at http://www.purrpartners.org/adopt/policies/ ) Our goal is to place as many cats and kittens in safe, permanent, loving homes as possible. Not every application is approved but the vast majority are. Purr Partners has adopted out close to 3500 cats since its inception in 2009.
As a licensed animal caretaker I have never interacted with such rude and cold people. They clearly only want certain people to have these animals and do not care for the animals well being. Thumbs down.

I'm very sorry that Wolfie222 feels we were rude. Unfortunately, when people refuse to abide by our protocols and procedures, they often do not get the cat or kitten they want. We understand that people can become angry when they feel like they know what is best for our cats and kittens in spite of the fact that we keep them in our homes and care for them just as we care for our own personal cats. All our cats and kittens are cared for by our excellent vets who provide us with much expertise and help us get every cat and kitten healthy and ready for a new home. We do sometimes refuse adoptions in the best interests of our fosters. Getting people to read and understand the procedures listed on our website is difficult, and when they don't, they get angry. I hope we are never rude, and we certainly try to work with every person that applies for one of our cats or kittens. However, it doesn't always work out the way the potential adopter would like.
These people are extremely cold in their dealings with future adopters. I was told I was going to be receiving a kitten and was in the process of filling out a contract when they abruptly denied it. My family has also donated money to this organization (the process was confusing to say the least). And I was told that countless of animals were being killed and they just couldn't hold her one more day. However, I was informed that she was being held in a small room in the foster house (fishy, fishy, fishy). No pun intended. The manager made me cry on the phone she was so rude and curt. I hope she deals more politely with cute, fuzzy animals.

As an all volunteer group, we explain to every adopter that we do not hold animals. Too many times, we have done this, and the cat or kitten ended up not getting that promised home. This is clearly stated on the website, and every potential adopter is told. As for stopping an adoption in the middle of the contract, I would be very surprised that this would happen unless some new information suddenly came to light. In that case, we will always do what is in the best interests of our foster animals. We understand that people get upset when a cat or kitten they want badly is not available to them which could happen for many reasons, all of which are explained. Our reputation with thousands of adopters and within the rescue community and with our vets tells us we are doing something right. Our apologies are extended if someone encountered rudeness, but we do not apologize for making informed and educated decisions about the placement and wellbeing of our animals.
