Programs: Public Advocates works with our partners and allies to promote equity and systemic change for the benefit of those who need it most. We are currently focused in three main areas: housing, transit and education equity. HOUSING PROGRAM GOAL: Achieve equitable and sustainable development and growth that protects low-income communities and communities of color from displacement, while dismantling barriers to housing near opportunities (quality jobs, education and services) in affluent communities. TRANSIT PROGRAM GOAL: Achieve equitable funding in partnership with low-income communities and communities of color in California, so these communities have access to affordable and reliable transit services. EDUCATION PROGRAM GOAL: Create equitable educational opportunities to learn for all California public school children, focusing on areas including school finance reform, teacher quality, implementation of the Williams v. California settlement, school and student data, and the California State High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE).
