Mission: The pta's mission is to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children; to assist parents in developing skills they need to raise and protect their children; and to encourage parent and public involvement in this nation's public school system. The pta promotes the education, health, and safety of children and families.
Programs: Our organization's major accomplishment this year was to implement and have installed a safe, physical, outdoor playscape - this was done with the help of all the wonderful volunteers in the community, town, school, and pta members. We continue to provide curriculum enrichment programs, supplementing field trips outside of the school into the community. The curriculum enrichment programs serve each student (estimated at 300 students). These programs are chosen by parents and teachers to enhance the learning experiences from the classroom and to provide a more visual, interactive, and entertaining way to learn. There were 5 programs offered (1 or each grade level at our school for age-appropriate content and a literacy arts magazine published for each student. Our next program service is student field trips. These are trips outside the school environment into surrounding cities and communities traveled by bus. These field trips are for each student approximately 300 students and also supplement curriculum. Locations include the bradly air museum, old state house, recycling center, the bushnell in hartford, and the science center in hartford.
