Programs: See schedule o. Providence st. Joseph health systemon july 1, 2016, providence health & services (phs) and st. Joseph health system (sjhs) entered into a business combination agreement. By coming together, providence st. Joseph health seeks to better serve its communities through greater patient affordability, outstanding clinical care, improvements to the patient experience and introduction of new services where they are needed most. Together, our caregivers serve in 50 hospitals, 829 clinics across alaska, california, montana, new mexico, oregon, texas and washington. The founders of both organizations were courageous women ahead of their time. The sisters of providence and the sisters of st. Joseph of orange brought health care and other social services to the american west when it was still a rugged, untamed frontier. Now, as we face a different landscape a changing health care environment we draw upon their pioneering and compassionate spirit to plan for the next century of health care. Providence health & servicesin 1856, mother joseph and four sisters of providence established hospitals, schools and orphanages across the northwest. Over the years, other catholic sisters transferred sponsorship of their ministries to providence, including the little company of mary, dominicans and charity of leavenworth. Recently, swedish health services, kadlec regional medical center and pacific medical centers have joined providence as secular partners with a common commitment to serving all members of the community. Today, providence serves alaska, california, montana, oregon and washington. St. Joseph health systemin 1912, a small group of sisters of st. Joseph landed on the rugged shores of eureka, california to provide education and health care. They later established roots in orange, california, and expanded to serve southern california, northern california and texas. The health system established many key partnerships, including a merger between lubbock methodist hospital system and st. Mary hospital to form covenant health in lubbock texas. Recently, an affiliation was established with hoag health to increase access to services in orange county, california. Program service accomplishmentsprovide subsidized housing with 74 one-bedroom units to low income elderly and physically disabled persons. During 2017 the occupancy rate was 99. 7%. 5 units were turned for an average turnover rate of 6. 8%. Average day's vacancy was 16 totaling 82 for the year. There were 33,185 tenant days. Overviewprovidence elizabeth house is a high-quality, supportive housing program sponsored, owned and managed by providence health & services. Designed and built especially for low-income seniors, the building features 74 private apartments with all the comforts of home. Each apartment includes full kitchen amenities with a dining area, a private bathroom with tub or walk-in shower, built-in storage and an open floor plan. Shared laundry facilities and welcoming community spaces are available to all residents. Located in the redeveloped high point community in west seattle, the non-smoking, pet friendly facility offers plenty of parking and building security. Some apartments offer views of the city while others enjoy the lush greenery of a park and pea patch or of the community's raised garden beds. Public transportation is easily accessible and a community van provides transportation for resident outings. Elizabeth house is a perfect choice for seniors who want to be close to the city but enjoy the beauty of green spaces. Providence places a high value in supporting individual residents and creating a vibrant community by providing raised garden beds, a shared computer lab with internet access, gathering spaces for resident groups, a wide variety of scheduled activities including educational and recreational programming. The service coordinator helps residents identify and access local resources and services, and advocates for residents who require assistance. Providence elizabeth house receives an operating subsidy from the united states department of housing and urban development (hud). Hud requirements state that applicants for housing at providence elizabeth house must be at least 62 years of age at the time of application and their annual income cannot exceed 50% of the area median income. Residents pay approximately 30% of their monthly income toward their rent and utilities.
