Mission: The league's mission is to provide for the rescue and relief of suffering of homeless animals and perform charitable or benevolent acts for the welfare of animals. The league accomplishes its mission by providing appropriate shelter and humane care for homeless animals, reducing pet overpopulation through strict spay/neuter measures, seeking permanent, responsible homes for adoptable pets, providing a diversity of humane education programs to meet community needs.
Programs: The providence animal rescue league provided comprehensive care, medical services and adoption services to 2,930 animals in 2016. Services include medical exams, vaccinations; spay/neuter surgery, food, shelter, additional veterinary care, behavior evaluation, training, and shelter enrichment programs. The league also spayed or neutered 1,752 community companion animals through our low cost spay/neuter assistance program (snap). The league also serves as a key resource for current pet owners by providing answers to pet related questions and concerns. More than 24,000 calls were received at the league requesting assistance regarding pet related information. Other programs and services include mobile adoptions, micro chipping, food bank, euthanasia and cremation services.
