I adopted two kittens from this organization in 2017 and we still have the brother (sister unfortunately passed last year). My husband and I became more involved as cat foster parents in 2020, and how have the greatest respect for the other foster parents, because it's much more work than just feeding and petting cute little fur balls! Treating scared, scarred or injured cats with the appropriate care, handling newly rescued or surrendered animals with compassion - it takes real dedication!
After our two kitties passed over the rainbow and our lifestyle changed, I started to volunteer at PAWS in Wakefield and I've been immensely impressed by the leadership and dedication of this group, the fosters are all amazing people. I only wish I had more time to give.
We adopted Max (formerly Millhouse) from PAWS in May 2023. PAWS was a great organization to work with - very responsive to questions and you can tell they really care about finding the right home for each kitty. It was very straightforward to set up a meet & greet for Max and then complete the adoption paperwork once we decided we wanted to bring him home. He was up-to-date on all his vaccines and medical care when we adopted him, and PAWS sent us all his medical records via e-mail, which made it very easy to share them with our vet. Max is loving his new home - especially bird-watching with his kitty sibling Penny and visiting us while we're working!
I adopted Aurora (fka Fiorella) from PAWS on August 3 and I am thrilled with the entire experience. PAWS volunteers Sharon and Robin were both incredibly helpful and understanding of my needs and found me the perfect match in Aurora. Sharon took the time to really understand who I am as a pet owner and what type of cat I looking for. It was very clear to me when I met Aurora that her foster mom Robin did a fantastic job in raising her. She is very well socialized, affectionate, playful and loves to cuddle. I found everyone at PAWS to be caring and dedicated to rescuing and nurturing cats of all ages. Sharon and Robin are incredible people and I am forever grateful to them for the joy that Aurora has brought to my life and for the positive impact PAWS has on so many animals and their families. Keep up the great work!
My family and I had a wonderful experience adopting our new kitten through PAWS. From the time we submitted our adoption application to the day we brought our kitten home, they were very responsive, super friendly, very helpful, and a pleasure to go through the adoption process with. Communication between us was excellent throughout the process, and they were very accommodating to our needs and schedule. They clearly take very good care of the animals that they take in and work hard to ensure their animals are going to loving homes. They were very generous with their time and resources, and I can't imagine a better, smoother experience adopting a kitten than the one we had with PAWS and their volunteers. I highly recommend them to anyone in the area looking to adopt an animal!
I love volunteering with this organization. PAWS does so much for the community I live in plus the surrounding communities. Besides helping so many kittens and cats who are abandoned, surrendered, ill or lost, we help people in the community. PAWS runs a pet food pantry where those having a little trouble feeding their companion can get free food for them (cats, dogs, kittens, puppies and small animal food is available). We have a large network of volunteer foster 'cat parents' who provide love, food, shelter and safety for any cat or kitten coming into our care.
I adopted both my cats from PAWS Wakefield. PAWS made sure that I was the perfect adopter for my two fur babies! After adopting from PAWS I decided to volunteer with PAWS. I am so impressed with all the work the PAWS volunteers do to help local cats in need. During the pandemic they began a Pet Food Pantry where people can drop off food they no longer need or people can come to the PAWS Pet Food Pantry to get food for their pets..no questions asked. It's a wonderful project that continues to this day! I cannot say enough good things about this organization! They do so much to help local cats in need!
I am a two time client, first an adopter and then a failed foster. The volunteers are very engaged and very responsive and active in the community. PAWS is a longtime leader for vulnerable pets and their owners in our community. I have also had the opportunity to volunteer or attend a number of events. Most recently I needed help with a food trial for my aging former Paws cat and the volunteers at PAWS generously let me try a couple of cans from their pantry. I unreservedly recommend this organization to you. They are making a huge difference in our community and serve as an important resource.
PAWS's mission to to save as many cats as possible from living in unsafe conditions. The team of foster families and other volunteers ensure the interested adopters can adopt a feline family member to enrich their families. I enjoy my weekly monitoring of the email website to ensure that everyone who wants to adopt a cat/kitten can do so and enjoy their time together with their new family members. You can't get better than that!
PAWS is an all-volunteer organization that does amazing work. So many cats and kittens find wonderful adoptive families and foster homes after being taken in from some heartbreaking situations. PAWS really takes the time to find the right match for the cats in their care and send them off to great homes!
PAWS of Wakefield has a team of volunteers who are truly dedicated to rescuing cats, whether they be strays or surrendered cats. All of the cats they rescue are given whatever veterinary care is needed and are tended to by caring fosters in their homes until they can be adopted out or cross the RainbowBridge while in care. I have never met such a dedicated group of individuals who work closely together with each other and with members of the community to help cats in need.
PAWS is a wonderful nonprofit that is dedicated to their cause of helping animals. Not only does PAWS consist of an all volunteer group that rescues, fosters, and adopts out homeless animals, they also ensure that each animal is cared for appropriately in their new homes and will step in to help any adopter out if they need it. PAWS is a great group of volunteers giving their time to help animals in need!
I have been a PAWS Wakefield volunteer for almost 20 years! I have moved out of state, but still rescue and am deeply involved with the group, as I feel their mission and views are important to me! They take great care into carefully selecting the best adoption matches, as to ensure both the adopter and cat is happy. The work we do is so fulfilling and truly my life!
Instead of gifts for his birthday, Jay (age 6) asked his friends to bring cat and kitten food and toys to the PAWS office to help our PAWS Food Pantry, our foster kitties, and the pet families in our community!
PAWS is proud to be able to serve the families and animals in Wakefield as well as the greater Boston area. We are also very thankful for the generous donations of supporters of all ages! As an all-volunteer, non-profit animal rescue and foster network, we depend on the generosity of our donors, adopters, and friends to help us continue to serve pets and their families.
I've worked with PAWS for over 15 years as a volunteer, foster home, board member and adopter! This organization is dedicated to helping both animals and people and I trust them to always be there for whatever questions I have about my adopted kitty and more.
