Prosumers helped me get my life back on to a track. I don't think about surviving anymore. I think about thriving. Prosumers got me to thinking about who I really am and where do I want to go. Hi. My name is Melanie. I am a unique and "perfect" just the way I am. I went to my first Prosumers meeting and there I found out that I was not alone. I learned that I had an illness but it did not have me. For the first time in my life, I wanted to change my thoughts about unworthiness. Then it hit me. I had the power to change. I had the power to make my life better. I had the power to have a future. A future with whatever I wanted to create. To create a life full of meaning and purpose. I continued to go to meetings and ended up asking about where there were meetings closer to my work. I was told there were none. Where could I get Prosumers near me? What could I do to make that happen? You guessed it, I made it happen in Denton. I am the District Director of Denton Prosumers. Not only do I continue to enjoy Denton meetings, I choose to share my life with a wonderful group of people that I love and who love me. Today, I can honestly say that my life is full of supportive family members that are blood related and a chosen family of Denton Prosumers. Denton Prosumers encourage me to keep fighting the good fight. They empower me to live the life I love. Most importantly, they love me unconditionally. In a nutshell, my Prosumer family has rescued me from an old ending. Prosumers has given me a new beginning. I am grateful for all of you. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. I LIVE THE LIFE I LOVE!!!!!!!!! Peace~~~Melanie
I absolutely love Prosumers! I learn more about myself and ways to help others each time I go. When I can't make it, I am blue all day. People there have become family for me and I know I am a better person for it!
Prosumers has given me the knowledge, resources and enthusiasm to address more than one disabling condition and live my life with purpose and enthusiasm. It's absolutely wonderful to help others be the best, happiest person they can become, and I know that I can make a difference for myself and others through learning and applying the skills and information Prosumers teaches. My challenges are both physical and psychiatric, so self-awareness and self-advocacy are vital to keeping me whole and healthy! Thank you, Prosumers!
When I found Prosumers I was in a dark place. Through the opportunity to be heard, looked upon as a person (rather than a patient, client or ill person) I began to see I had worth. Over the years I also began to volunteer with the Prosumers because I found through giving to others I was able to get outside myself and find happiness. I never thought anyone would want me to help with a meeting, call to ask others to volunteer, help setup or tear down meetings much less speak to others about my journey. In the midst of the darkest of times the Prosumers saw what I could not inside me and helped me not only recover from that dark place but flourish and grow into a new life I had never dreamed of before. If you or someone you know is looking for a place that will help them grow and more importantly recover from a diagnosis then this group is exactly what is needed.
I first learned about Prosumers through my local mental health authority. I was really nervous about attending my first meeting but so glad I took a risk and went. I’m happy to report I have been attending their meetings every month since then. I stick with Prosumers because you can really tell through their actions they genuinely care about us and want us to succeed. I always walk away feeling loved, supported and equipped with new knowledge/skills to add to my tool box. I’m definitely a Prosumer 4 Life! Together we can LIVE THE LIFE WE WANT! (If u even have a little bit of interest I really encourage you to check’em out. Trust me, you won’t regret it.) :)
Prosumers changed my life. When I first started attending, I was treated like family. I was treated like a real person with potential and hope for the first time in years. Eventually, the lessons took root, and I went from being so 'disabled' I couldn't work or function in my daily life to attending community college, and then on to get my doctorate. I went from near-constant hospitalizations to being off almost all medications and living a life that I love, from no relationships of any kind to re-connecting with my original family and starting one of my own. If not for the Prosumers, I would be dead or still deeply mired in a system that thrives off of dehumanizing 'patients'. There is no other program or group that works quite like the Prosumers, and they are amazing.
I'm so proud to be a part of Prosumers. I've gone to meetings, been office manager, and currently am a member of the board. I have always been a huge fan of what Prosumers is and what they have accomplished. The amount of needless suffering that this organization has eradicated is immeasurable, as is the personal power restored to individuals. It's great living the life I love and being associated with people whose hearts are filled with hope and generosity for those with whom we share this planet.
Prosumers has been a transformative experience for me. When I started going to Prosumers I felt I could not be close to anyone or trust anyone after experiening domestic violence. I had lost my voice and sense of trust. I have found Prosumers to be a very supportive nurturing community. It was in Prosumers that I learned about Recovery and the wall I had built around me slowly came down. Trough Prosumers I learned how to advocate not only for myself but also on the local and state level. I also learned how to have fun again. The wellness topics helped me move out of a survival mode into one where I actively engage in life. I made friends and after years of unemployment went back to work wow!! I recommend Prosumers to anyone who wants the benefits of being part of a community that is unfailingly positive and growth enhancing.
I have been a member of Prosumers for many years. It provides many opportunities for personal growth and participation in the larger community. Monthly programs are filled with food, companionship and education. I recommend this group to anyone!
Prosumers is about supporting people who have had challenging lives to find their purpose and have a full life as defined by them. Many people who put their life on hold, found their voice and used it to find work, go back to school, or to make a difference in someone else's life. Prosumers is a great organization.
