Mission: Prosperity Unlimited, Inc. (formerly Cabarrus County CDC) was founded in 1993 after the civil unrest in Concord, NC. Through grassroots planning the organization has established a successful housing counseling program which has place more than 237 families in homes. We have built 60 affordable homes, completed a 40-unit elderly apartment complex and are currently working on completing a a 20-single family affordable subdivision. We have helped 230 families from foreclosure. We continue to work with community groups to work on community revitalization plans and developing opportunities to build human and physical wealth. We established an Economic Literacy and Individual Development Account Program that currently have 50 participants. Through partnerships we will be establishing 45 new accounts in 2002. We cosponsor several community activities each years surrounding fair housing, African-American history, diversity, etc. Through our work we believe in increasing the "human capacity" of our family member to increase their ability to obtain a higher quality of life. Cabarrus County CDC approach to community development is holistic. We look at our communities as a whole; people, housing, economics, culture and education; and we try to bring these components together for the healing process by. . .Opening Doors of Opportunities.
