I applied for the food and fuel assistance for families struggling and coping with their little ones in NICUs all over the United States. They made it easy and it was a very quick response time. I'm so thankful they helped me in my time of need. God is always there when you need most! My sweet girl is planning to have surgery Friday and it's Wednesday I just found out about this today. We live 3 hours from the hospital she is at. And tonight God blessed us with the help from project sweet peas. Thank you all!

Going through the NICU experience was one of the most overwhelming times of my life. Nothing prepares you for the uncertainty, the long days and nights, and the emotional rollercoaster of watching your baby fight to grow and thrive. During this difficult time, Project Sweet Peas was a source of comfort, support, and hope for my family. From the moment I was introduced to their resources, I felt seen and understood. The care packages, filled with essentials and thoughtful items, reminded me that I wasn’t alone in this journey. The emotional support and sense of community they provided helped me navigate the NICU experience with a little more strength and reassurance.

I’m incredibly grateful for the kindness, compassion, and dedication of Project Sweet Peas. Their work is truly invaluable for families like mine, and I will always appreciate the light they brought into such a difficult time. Thank you, Project Sweet Peas, for everything you do!

Project Sweet Peas helped me heal after my baby was in the NICU. I volunteer with them and it is a great outlet to connect with others who have experienced the same thing while giving back so others feel seen and supported while their child is in the NICU.

Our daughter and her husband were blessed to receive a care package when our granddaughter was born premature and spent 3 months in the NICU. I remember the day the care package arrived (as we were at their home) and how much each item brightened their spirits. They felt loved and seen which was priceless at such a stressful, challenging and wonderful time. We will never forget that day!

In December of 2019, I delivered twins at just 32 weeks. A day or so after the babies were born, we received our first Project Sweet Peas delivery. Gas cards, food gift cards, books, NICU journals for each baby, swaddles and blankets were just a few of the items that were in the first package. Project Sweet Peas provided essential items that we needed, as well as items that assisted with whatever normalcy we could have while in the NICU. They ensured that during a scary and challenging time, we had the essentials to help take care of ourselves while our tiny babies were being cared for. Project Sweet Peas not only provides essentials, but they also provide items of hope, joy and love,

Several years after losing my son in 2009, I had the pleasure of Volunteering with Project Sweet Peas. Through working with these dedicated individuals, I was blessed to share my son’s legacy by supporting others during their challenging times.
Over the years, PSP has grown and expanded to help and support countless families all over the country, but they continue to ensure each and every parent, child and family know their stories matter and that they are not alone on this journey.

I have had the pleasure of being both the recipient of Project Sweet Pea’s outreach while my twins were in the NICU, as well as a working alongside them with my work on our local hospital’s NICU Family Advisory Counsel. Without the support of Project Sweet Peas we would not be able to do nearly as much for our families in the NICU. I am so grateful for this wonderful organization.

08/01/2019Project Sweet Peas is amazing. When I had my triplets at 31 weeks 5 days they were wisked away to the NICU. Being in the hospital became part of our every day Life. One day we received an amazing care package in the mail from Project Sweet Peas. It was nice to know that there were other people out there who understood what we were going through because we felt very alone. Thank you for your love and support.

I am writing to express my gratitude for the collaboration we have built with Project Sweet Peas at Flushing Hospital Medical Center. Our Nurse Manager, Marianne, reached out to the organization approximately two years ago expressing our interest in learning more about what Project Sweet Peas offered. Corin learned about our NICU at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, located in the heart of Queens as a Safety Net Hospital. Our clients are diverse in their ethnicity, race and education. Regardless, when a baby is admitted to the NICU or if there is a neonatal/pregnancy loss, it is a traumatic and frightening time.
Project Sweet Peas has assisted us in promoting a family-centered care environment. They have donated numerous outfits for our "preemie" babies, educational material, activity seats that sway and move from side to side. Our premature babies that have spent a considerable amount of time in the NICU have a "graduation" on the day of discharge. This is an event where the family and staff are elated and celebrate with a parade in a graduation cap and sash. I cannot express how special this event is for all!
If there is a neonatal loss, cherished memories and keepsakes are kept in a special memory box from Project Sweet Peas. I am certain families open this box and cherish the memories within.
Thank you to Corin (she is amazing, beyond words) and the team for the generosity and support of Project Sweet Peas. They definitely make a huge difference in the lives of our families. I know firsthand how difficult it is to leave a baby in the NICU after birth. They are making a difficult time much easier with their caring, generous commitment and service to the NICU babies and their families.

Fondly,
Maria

Project sweet peas has been life changing to the staff and families here at flushing hospital and Medical center. Our Level 3 NICU serves a largely underserved community. We are are a safety net hospital and were at the epi center of the Covid 19 pandemic. Sweet Peas allows us to provide for our families in a unprecedented way. They have given us so many resources from handouts , memory boxes, clothes, Momma Roos and the ever popular graduation kits. Before I had the pleasure of reaching out to Corin Nava, the staff would try to buy outfits for those families that arrived with nothing to pick up their babies ready to go home. I vividly remember Corin asking what our budget for these kind of supplies- the answer was we simply had no budget, She quickly sprang into action and changed the life of both our families and staff. Instantly I saw the staff, happier and excited- it does feel good to not only grow them but send them home with gifts and appropriate clothing and of course our love. The Moms love the chance to journal, especially when they have a long road ahead of them, of course these beautiful journals were also provided by Project Sweet peas. I could write for days about how wonderful this non profit is and about how they change the life of our most vulnerable patients and the community we serve- Thank You for the opportunity to review Project Sweet Peas- Marianne Ostrander BSN RNC CNM

After just having my baby at 32 weeks, I was in another world. It had all happened so quickly. After I saw the baby in the NICU and had a minute to myself in my recovery room, I was so thankful for my care package. The swaddle, the Sweet Pea book, the baby book to write in, the coloring pages and colored pencils. In such a dark time where I didn’t even have a properly packed hospital bag with any essentials after labor, I felt a little happiness to see this package from Sweet Pea. It definitely was a bright spot in my dark day and I’m so appreciative of receiving that on my bed that day.

I received a Project Sweet Peas holiday bag back in 2016 when I had my 31 weeker. Earlier this summer, I reached out to PSP to volunteer. It was amazing to see their reach. Shortly after jumping in to volunteer, I ended up welcoming a 29 weeker.

I've been able to simultaneously see the organization's incredible reach as a volunteer, but also as a recipient of support at a local hospital they've served.

I have some extra items I've been able to share with showcase in my daughter's NICU room and the nurses and other staff have been so impressed. The visual Milestone pins, the Milestone cards, but also their incredible mental health plan handout.

As a perinatal professional by trade, this immediately caught my eye in their most recent care package to the hospital where my daughter is. Perinatal mental health is a true public health crisis but especially for NICU families. I love the proactive nature and as a professional, NICU parent, and volunteer, I was truly impressed by the amazing thought and evidence that went into their care packages.

It is impossible for me to speak any more highly of Project Sweet Peas. In 2022, my wife and I lost our daughter Riley, who was stillborn at 27 weeks. Aside from the support of our family and friends, in those first few days and weeks, nothing was comforting, other than an amazingly thoughtful and moving care box which was brought to us by the team at Project Sweet Peas. I cannot describe how helpful and moving it was for my wife and I, and since then we have held Project Sweet Peas in incredibly high regard.

Amazingly, Project Sweet Peas went up even further in our book after we had our son Graham on May 27, 2023. He was born premature at 33 weeks, and we are fortunate that he is doing very well in the NICU and progressing along nicely. When the team at Project Sweet Peas learned of this, they personally delivered another care box (this was made for families with preemies) along with a handwritten note from the Executive Director of out local chapter. It has meant the world to my wife and I, and I cannot say enough good things about this organization.

I work in a large inner city hospital that has over 1,000 NICU admissions annually. Project Sweet Peas has been a wonderful supporter of our families during some of their hardest days. Holidays happen and they are even harder to celebrate while your baby is hospitalized. Project Sweet Peas has been providing comfort bags to us on Mothers and Father’s Day, NICU and Prematurity Awareness days. These bags are filled with extra love and items parents often times didn’t even know how much they needed. We are so thankful for their support and our families feel that they are able to connect with an organization that understands. Thank you Project Sweet Peas for caring for our precious and fragile families.

My wife and I have had a heck of a journey to becoming parents. We went through several rounds of IVF and finally had success with two beautiful twin daughters who unfortunately had to be delivered early and ultimately didn't make it. We were at the lowest of lows and feeling hopeless. PSP came along and offered memory boxes for our daughters, tools and resources about loss and grief, but above all knowing we weren't alone. PSP has done a phenomenal job working with the community to educate about the importance of NICU awareness and being a baseline for support. We are grateful for them through and through. PSP does a lot of other benefits too to support the brighter side of life by making care packages and holiday packages for families and staff within the NICU.

On July 1st 2020 I had an emergency c section at 24 weeks with my mono mono boys Charlie and Ollie. Weighing in at 1lb 12oz and 1lb 13oz our world was flipped upside down. On July 4th we lost our Ollie. There are no words to describe the devastation we felt. The loneliness of being in a club that no one signs up for was crushing. Corin Nava and PSP gave us support, comfort and such kindness during the most difficult period of our lives.... there's no words that can quite capture how this helped us. The days I wanted to give up I remembered that I wasn't alone. 154 days in the NICU with Charlie and PSP helped us to connect with our baby that didn't feel like ours. I will forever support PSP for supporting us when we desperately needed it ♡

Over 4.5 years ago, I was laying in a hospital bed hopped up on magnesium not able to sleep. I came across an organization, Project Sweet Peas and fell in love. As I looked through the few pages that they had, I came across Kate and her videos. Needless to say, she gave me hope that if my baby came early, that everything would be ok. Landon ended up making his grand entrance three days later weighting 2.5lbs and about 12” long. This organization helped me though the scariest time I’m my life. We were first introduced to Project Sweet Peas 5 years ago when our twins were born at 23+ 0 weeks. It was the support of Co founder Corin that helped me get through the loss of our daughter and our sons 137 day nicu stay. It was nice to come into our room at the nicu and have a car package from PSP ( we still wear our green bracelets 5 years later) and I will always treasure our memory box they gave us after our daughter passed. One of my favorite memories was our Halloween photo shoot they put on for the families, and I loved to help make costume for future nicu families after we were discharged. Every year we look forward to the plunge for preemies, and can’t wait to see what they have in store for this up coming years celebration. After my first two children died, I was given handmade memory boxes by a local chapter of Project Sweet Peas. I knew from that instant that I needed to give back, that I needed to help other families going through the hell we had been through. This year, my husband and I started the #RoarkChallenge. We challenged our community to raise $500. For every dollar (up to $500), my husband and I would match the gift. Plus, through my companies charitable giving program for every dollar we donated, they would match it! Through our collective efforts, every $1 donated by the community then became $3! Within 3 weeks we exceeded our goal and will be able to provide somewhere around 80 memories boxes to local families in need.

Project Sweet Peas supports families with premature & critically ill infants spending time in the NICU. It has became a passion of ours to help families during some of their most uncertain days. We supply care packages, holiday gifts, bearavment support, & financial support. Once you have experienced a NICU stay, you realize that the true hero's are the ones that were born into this world fighting for each breath they take. This organization is very important to me and it allows us to be able to support many families. The smallest things mean so much.
