Having been interested in wild cat conservation for years, a friend brought me up to Project Survival's Cat Haven. I was very impressed that they were directly involved with field reasearch and how they went about educating the public on the importance of such an endeavor. I never lost that first impression, so after 8 years of visiting, I decided to volunteer 8-12 days a month, best decision of my life!! The mission remains the same and the effort is growing, please support this fine facility!

I didn't know what to expect on my first visit to Project Survival. The tours are guided and you learn so much about endangered species of cats and what is being done to help them survival in the wild. Anyone who visits is invited to get involved to help with these worthy cat conservation projects. Project Survival donates money and needed equipment to about 8-10 projects that save cats in the wild. The cats at Cat Haven are happy and well cared for.
After my first visit I immediately signed up to volunteer in any capacity that I was able. I love this place and take family and visitors as often as possible!

I came here first for a school project about wild cats and now renew my membership every year! The tours are fantastic - the guides tell you all about the species you see as well as the personalities of the individual cats. You can tell the guides and cats are comfortable around each other: the people know so much about them and some of the cats will come up to the fence to greet the tourguides! Besides getting an awesome tour out of the admission price you also learn about the different conservation groups that the money is going towards. Cheetah projects, work with leopards in Asia and even a program working with the little wild cats all benefit from the tours and donations. Its such an awesome facility for helping wildlife, learning about cats and getting away from the city if you need a day out!

I visited Cat Haven back in February, the weather was great and the cats seemed to be enjoying themselves. Our tour guide was equipped with some amazing cat facts and stories about each cat. It's great how personal the staff gets with them. Knowing what they prefer to play with and actively giving them enrichments each week. If you call in advance, they even let you bring up items like watermelons and boxes for the keepers to hand out during your tour. It's a neat thing to watch! It was a very clean place and I loved how the gift shop has a cat theme! It brings the whole place together. I especially enjoyed learning how Cat Haven takes it a step further and supports many conservation activists all around the world. It's a great place to take your family.

You will not be disappointed if you visit the Cat Haven. During the tours you learn so much about a variety of cat species and the tours are personalized to the cats that are on display, so you get to hear their back stories. It's the only place in California where you can see all seven species of big cat in one place, and you get to be extremely close to them unlike most places!! The best part about the Cat Haven is their involvement in research organizations. They don't just send money to fund researchers but they visit those researchers each year so they know exactly where their money goes. Cat Haven in run by great people who want to help big cats!!

My first visit to Cat Haven was in 2011 and since then I have returned several times a year. It is just a short drive out of Fresno into the foothills of the Sierras. Each tour is led by a docent who will tell you about the species of the cat as well as personal traits of their particular cat. There are about 30 cats to see and several different species. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to do the tour. The enclosures are in a natural setting on the sides of the hills so cats aren't standing on concrete. The cats look healthy and happy, and if you're lucky you will see the owner interact with his babies! Well worth the $10/per tix.

In a beautiful setting in the mountains, you will find a wide variety of exotic feline species; Tigers, Lions, Jaguars, Leopard, Clouded Leopards, Pallas Cat, Cheetahs, and many more! The tours are very nice and offer the chance to learn about conservation and about the cats themselves. The docents are very friendly and well-informed. The facility is very clean and welcoming.

The first time I came to Cat Haven was a few years ago with my family. We all loved it, as we are animal lovers. Since then, I returned for another 3-4 tours. This past June I decided to become a volunteer/docent because the staff was so friendly and it seemed like an overall nice place to work. I'm currently a sophomore in college looking to major in Wildlife Biology. I'm hoping to enroll in their keeper internship next semester to gain some valuable work experience in this field. My experience at Cat Haven has been wonderful from both a volunteer and a visitor standpoint. The tours are highly educational and the cats are well cared for.
