Project Promise is unwavering in their commitment to bettering the lives of the youth in our community. It's demonstrated in the programs they offer, the lessons they impart, and the ongoing mission to build a sense of community in each child they impact. For these reasons, I will continue to support Project Promise.
As a member of the community I have seen the work and commitment the organization has for the betterment of the students as well as our islands.Project Promise has also connected with children abroad providing exposure to our children as citizens of the world .
Project Promise continues to provide its students with skills and experiences to ensure well rounded growth and development .
Great Job and Continued success!!

I have seen growth in the confidence of students who have gone through the program. Many have improved both academically and socially after enjoying new experiences offered by the program. The programs offered to 4th and 5th grade students enable them to gain a better understanding of the island's history and ecology with hand-on experiences.
I was able to travel to Singapore for a robotics competition because of Project Promise and First Global. I’m very grateful to them because I had a once in a life time experience because of their efforts. I’ve had a lot of fun being a part of their community
My name is Naita Salmon Charles. I have been a part of Project Promise since it's inception over 9 years ago (website editor, Board Member, Life Coach, advisor, volunteer). I said yes to Ms. Resa O'Reilly, founder of this awesome nonprofit, because I wanted to help her achieve the dream she envisined for the youth of St. Croix. I have seen the trials, tribulations, and struggles Project Promise went through to get to where it is today. We started off using donated space (Lew Muckle Elementary School) to facilitate the program. Now 9 years later the dream of having a space where youths of Project Promise can come to learn, explore, and dream is a reality. "The Building" as it is sometimes lovingly referred to as, is a place where the children of not such privileged upbringings can see what the possibilities are for their future. The various programs that have been and continue to be implemented are a testimony that dreaming big is possible. Some of these children had never seen the opposite side of the island (Frederiksted and Christiansted); seen a play; seen a movie in the movie theater; flew on a plane; been anywhere other than St. Croix... Project Promise gave them all those opportunities in these past 9 years. Touring the island of St. Croix; a trip across the U.S. from NY to California; going to Disneyland; touching lives through community services they provided while traveling across the U.S. Through the various programs and project of Project Promise, these children have built memorial gardens created for moms who have newborn infants in the hospital to have a place to go for a moment of stillness; repaired playgrounds for the children in the community; replaced the roof of Lagoon Pavillion where many locals go to exercise and fellowship after Category 5 Maria ripped through St. Croix in 2017. The Youth Recognition Program where Seniors graduating from high school are honored recognized for their achievement during high school despite the challenges that life brings. The Empower Me program (2023) allowed children who participated in the program to become published authors. The most recent accomplishment of Project Promise is the youths of St. Croix participating in the FIRST GLOBAL Robotics Challenge in Singapore!!! They have not only seen the other side of their own island where they live, but traveled across the U.S. that they only hear about and see on TV. They can now say they have travelled internationally. This is why I believe Project Promise VI hands down, is the BEST 100% on point nonprofit organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk youths in St. Croix. Drop the mic!!!
Project Promise is such an amazing non-profit for the island of St. Croix. They bring so much positivity into the local community through their programs for at-risk youth, who face so many challenges already by virtue of living on a small island and many also living below the poverty line. Project Promise offers services and programs that support local youth through education, health and wellness, mentoring, life coaching and so much more. Project Promise provides these kids have a safe space, but they also get the youth involved in community service and outreach, they foster job/vocational interests and help them to learn social skills like conflict resolution.
As a member of local media, I have has the opportunity to meet and chat with the staff and participants in the Project Promise programs and the young adults and kids I've met are very respectful, passionate and excited to share the things they are learning with others. By "paying it forward" and sharing their knowledge, these youth are influencing others at their schools and homes to hopefully do the same, which makes for a much brighter future for St. Croix!
There’s always something to do or some way to contribute once you’re a part of this organization. From helping to plan fundraisers with board members to taking part in lessons with the program’s children, there’s always something refreshing and new to take part in every day.
I really love the program. This program has really helped my son Malique. I loves the activities. He has really been using the things he has been learning. This is an awesome program.
Project Promise is Well organized and very engaged with the local St. Croix community.!
They have offered many opportunities to youth on St. Croix that may have not been experienced; like field trips to national parks.
I am a proud parent of a Project Promise VI caterpillar! Since my child has joined the program I have seen a change in his confidence and growth. Project Promise VI has offered many fun activities, academic lessons and life coaching. We are looking forward for many more experiences with the program! PPVI ROCKS!!
Project Promise is led by a team of people who are dedicated, organized and passionate about what they do. I am excited that my son is a part of a program that strives to meet the needs of every child. He always comes home bursting with details about what they do each day. We are looking forward to more amazing experiences with Project Promise.
I spent a week working at Project Promise the summer of 2021. Wonderful people with a clear mandate to help kids and families. Great execution of their central goals. Resa and Kiana are hard-working and showing great leadership.
Project Promise is such a thoughtfully organized non-profit!! The organization sincerely commits-above and beyond- to the calling of providing support for at risk youth on the island of St. Croix. The way Project Promise molds, pours into and provides safe spaces for young people to explore themselves and the world around them is second to none!
This project is inspiring a lot of hope for so many people. I loved being a part of it and seeing parts come together. This building has so much potential and the project is inspiring.
Project promise is doing great things! I had such a positive experience with them and learned so much about the culture in the Virgin Islands. I also had so much fun! They deserve support
I got to help build an amazing shelter for this group and it was so fun! They made it so that anyone with any experience at all could help in some way.
I worked on this project with the hefy groups and it was an awesome experience! Wonderful people helping towards a wonderful cause!
I was able to have a first hand witness of the impact Project Promise was going to have on the community as I was a member of the construction crew for a week. I worked with a humanitarian organization to plaster walls, demo walls and stairs, and clean up scrap materials. As soon as we got to the worksite we were greeted by the Projects founder Resa O’Reilly. Later on, she shared with us the vision for her dream. A dream that would give opportunities to kids that could help them pave the way to their futures. Throughout the week Resa, Kiana, and the rest of the crew would get to know us and help us make a personal connection to not just the project, but the building itself. The foundation of Project Promise is one that restores hope and fun into the lives of extremely intelligent and bright kids. As I got to know Resa, I felt the love she has for this project shine through in everything she did. I feel extremely blessed to have helped contribute to building the facility, and to have met some of the kids who could be apart of the project when the building was fully constructed. I, alongside the rest of my group, know what good this project will do and can’t wait to stay updated on all the amazing things to come.
I had the most wonderful opportunity to come and help with this project! Resa, Kiana, and everyone else involved are so incredible and checked up on us at the work site everyday! It was so amazing coming and being able to help people! I believe that this project will be so helpful to the youth in the Virgin Islands. If you ever have the opportunity, I strongly urge you to help with this nonprofit!
Amazing people trying to accomplish amazing things. I worked on the worksite for 10 days and they were nothing but a joy to be around.
During the summer I went to go help build up the building for project promise. While there I like I was truly bettering the world and that what we were doing was really going to help the rising youth in the area.
I was a group leader that helped take teens from all over the United States down to St. Croix to work side along Project Promise in working on their center for at risk teens. All I can say is WOW! They provided experiences that changed the lives of our teens through helping them understand the power of positive service, and encouraging them to live their purpose in doing good in the world. I can't say enough good about them. Every interaction was uplifting, and it was clear to see that they were uplifting and encouraging everyone they came in contact with. Couldn't say enough good about these wonderful people.
What I plan to write...
I have volunteered with Project Promise in various capacities from its inception almost 7 years ago. In the beginning there was no evidence of what they were capable of doing for at-risk youth. Fast forward to present day. As a Life Coach with Project Promise, I have seen the manifestation of the evidence of their mission statement, “Improving the lives of at-risk youth.” Evidence of failing grades to honor roll, Principal’s awards, local community service, and world service.

I can't begin to say enough about the work that Project Promise is doing to help its participants, and impact their local community at the same time! In three and a half years, Project Promise has helped our students to grow by leaps and bounds academically and socially. The students have been exposed to so many positive activities including the arts and cultural events, monthly community service commitments, and dozens of career options. They've given locally and internationally, donating toys and raising money for tuition for children as far away as South Africa! It has been truly rewarding to be a part of this program and helping to mold these students, and I can't wait to see them in five more years when they graduate from high school!
Passion, dedication, and consistency, is the driving force behind every volunteer. An amazing group of people that give effortlessly and tirelessly to positively impact the lives of our children. Project promise is the epitome of this quote…“We cannot always build a future for our youth, but we can always build our youth for the future.” ― Franklin D. Roosevelt
Thank you so much for developing a program that is helping to nurture and support our youth!

Project Promise has done such wonderful things for the youth in their Program. I have seen one of the young ladies blossom from a below average student that was very shy and self conscious to a confident honor student. With the help of her Mentor and the program facilitator she and other students have been able to learn and grow and also know that they are not alone in their journey for a better education.
Project Promise was extremely instrumental in bringing to life the vision of Mrs Faye John-Baptist for a Children's Memorial Garden at the Juan F Luis Hospital on St Croix. I was contacted by Project Promise in March of 2017, as they saw fit for such a garden to be dedicated to my son Asa who we lost to crohns in November 2016, and other children loved and lost too soon.
They not only initiated the work , but also committed to maintaining and beautifying this peaceful garden. The leadership along with the Caterpillars of Project Promise also partners with others in projects to enhance our community on St Croix. They are a loving, caring, hardworking group whose efforts and achievements are deeply appreciated and applauded.
Strategic in its approach. Effective in the results! Literally the village concept!
Project promise deserves our support and much more. Amazing organization!
