Nonprofit Overview

Mission: Project New Hope Inc provides free weekend retreats to Active duty, National Guard and Reserve soldiers and their families. Almost all of these heroes share one thing in common, returning home and adjusting to civilian life was, and is very challenging for both the Veteran and their families. Many of them return with injuries, both seen and unseen, which make the transition even more difficult. Some suffer from depression and turn to addiction or worse, suicide.

In 2012 my infantry battalion returned from a year deployment in Afghanistan. During the 2 years following our return, we experienced 5 suicides. There were no answers or understanding of what was going on and why. When we were in theater, we took a combat casualty and remember the guys in the platoon were strong when together and falling apart when alone. It wasn't surprising that some guys were falling apart back home. Project New Hope planned, funded, and executed a top of the line Battalion Reunion to re-connect former battle buddies. We've repeated this reunion a few times since then and each year more people show up. The reconnection is awesome, considering how you deploy for a year in theater, then almost immediately upon coming home everyone goes their own way and never reconnects...until now. Thanks Bill Moore, Project New Hope, and the people that support PNH activities.

Project New Hope coordinated a 'reunion' for the battalion I deployed with. It was based on the construct of a Veteran's Retreat, but adjusted to ensure former soldiers were given free-flow to reunite. I was amazed at the activities PNH coordinated for us, and most of all the volunteers that offered their time, resources, boats, and expertise all for us. I'm convinced that PNH is the real deal, a class-act, and they're very flexible to provide the support that we think we need. The far reach that PNH has within all the resources available to Veterans and families is extensive. It was a great day. Hope to schedule an overnighter next time.

Hi I’m Jennifer a military mom. I have one son that was deployed through the VTARNG and one son that is a Marine too. Recently I’ve started working with Project New Hope in their WRJ,VT office. I had been working with deployed VTARNG families but felt limited to what I could do. Since meeting Bill and his staff I saw I could do so much more by working with them. This opportunity had opened up so much more for helping military families and Veterans. My heart has never been fuller doing this work. I’m truly grateful to Bill and his organization for bringing me on. Please stop by and have some coffee with me sometime in the WRJ., VT office.

I am a disabled Veteran from Vermont. I became involved with Project New Hope when I attended a retreat in 2015. I was a few months away from neurosurgery. The retreat was transformative for me. I made it through the surgery and have thrived since then. I became a Foster Mom at age 58. My son has been with me over three years. Project New Hope extended their outreach with an office in Vermont. Bill Moore, their president, remembered me from years before. I am now a volunteer in our Vermont office, and honored to help give support to Veterans and their families.I have received support from this great organization, and given the opportunity to pass that love forward.
Sincerely,
Janis James

My husband and i are both disabled Veterans. Project New Hope has help my family immensely during these trying times. They have provided my family with fresh fruits, vegetables and meat. At the beginning of the school year my children received back packs filled with school supplies. Not only has PNH helped our family they have provided numerous families at the VFW my husband belongs to. Our family is for ever grateful to Bill and his amazing volunteers that have helped our family and fellow Veterans!

Incredible organization with warm and compassionate volunteers who endlessly support the military community. Just when you think they couldn't do more for families, they find another way to do so as with the food pantry. I met Bill , Donna and others a few years ago when I attended a retreat for Gold Star families. I was at my most vulnerable and the chance to meet others with a shared experience was a first step towards healing. This was just one of many retreats PNH runs with a speaker, massage, times to reflect, fun activities, music, etc. I cannot thank or praise them enough. My company participates in the Jeepers Creepers holiday event every year to purchase presents for the children of military families. Project New Hope is a beacon of light for veterans and their families.

I started volunteering for PNH learning about how they help veteran families and seeing all the wonderful things they do. While volunteering this last year I have found out how caring and giving everyone at PNH is. They care about helping people and it shows in everything they do! The people I work with are the reason I go back everyday.

Project New Hope is an excellent service available for veterans and their families. They offer week-long retreats for vets and family members. Previously retreats have been held in Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Project New Hope provides services for veterans with a history of PTSD, TBI, and military sexual assault. They partner with Gold Star families (families who have lost family members serving on active duty). They also provide support to veterans from the LGBTQ community. In the past, they have set up summer camps. And sponsor one-day events like outings to a drive-in movie theaters. Ben Eovaldi

I have been volunteering for PNH for almost 5 years and it has been one of the most humbling and wonderful experiences I've ever had. I haven't seen or heard of another like Project New Hope. Bill Moore and his family along with his employees and numerous volunteers who give countless hours to make sure veterans and their families/caretakers are fed/clothed/given direction or help they need...etc.. I'm so proud to be able and part of PNH. I've met so many caring and supportive people. Thank you PNH for allowing me to "pay it forward".

Project New Hope is focused on supporting Veterans, servicemembers, and their families. On the days when the food pantry is open, there is a constant stream of Veterans and families picking up food. More importantly to me as a donor, this nonprofit relies mostly on volunteers to accomplish its work, which means that donations go to Veterans and their families, instead of unnecessary expenses, salaries, and overhead.

Project New Hope is truly one of the few non-profits that puts the money donated directly into their mission. I have witnessed this firsthand on a daily basis as I worked in the office. The staff is constantly looking for new ways to help veterans and goes above and beyond to do so.

My introduction to Project New Hope was an indirect meeting with Bill Moore through a mutual friend. I was at the time just about to start a new company and knew that we wanted a business model that would pay forward from every sale.

After being introduced to Bill and us chatting. I quickly started to learn about Project New Hope and all the fantastic help and caring they provide for our veterans. Bill's energy was like "electric" to me and we exchanged numbers on the understanding I would be in touch about how we could help.

We started our company about a year after that and have been donating to Project New Hope from our sales, we strive to increase business and therefore our donations.

Our Experience was meeting one of the founders, and also learning that the most amazing gift we can give is caring and compassion to all, also that it starts with us at an individual level and together from there we can all make an impact.

We continue to support Bill and Project New Hope.

I have helped out in the food pantry this past year and have been very impressed with how the pantry is organized and managed. It's great to see the results of this organization. If you are looking to be involved or to donate to veterans this is a great organization to help out with.
I am proud to be an advisory board member of this organization.

I'm so glad that I found Project New Hope! Without attending their 1st and 2nd annual Caregiver Retreats, I wouldn't have met so many people who understood exactly what it's like to feel alone in a civilian world, where nobody in my life was able to "get it." I went to the 1st Caregiver Retreat in 2017 without knowing anybody there. However, I left with an amazing group of lifelong friends, who've been in my life ever since.

However, not everything was about meeting like-minded people. The Retreat offered both planned activities as well as free time. A chance to recharge for a while. Their guest speakers, volunteers, fishing excursion with Captain Shaun, and so on, are top notch professionals. People who all understand what it's like to feel like you're all alone as a loving Caregiver.

I'm a people person, so the socializing has been my #1 reason for attending their retreats

A few years ago I went to Bill/PNH to talk to him about the needs of military caregivers - those who care for our wounded military. Without any debate, Bill offered to host a retreat for military caregivers, and PNH has since continued to offer their support and services. Bill and the entire PNH team is beyond exceptional with everything that they do.

I am a veteran caregiver for my husband who was injured in Iraq. As a full time caregiver I get very little opportunity to take time for myself. Through Project New Hopes Caregiver retreat I learned self care techniques like reflexology to manage stress, and had the opportunity to participate in seminars with a life coach and nutritionist. I also found time to bond with other caregivers on a sunset cruise, equine therapy, and fishing trip that made memories of a lifetime. The most valuable and treasured thing that this retreat had was the ability to connect and form life long friendships with other caregivers that could only happen in this nurturing 5 day retreat! To me it was more than just respite, it was a gift of friendship and laughter I was the most grateful for.

Project New Hope is a wonderful organization that works tirelessly to make life better for Veterans, families of those serving and Gold Star Families. The retreats that help not only the Veteran but the family unit work through the difficulties of PTSD are making a huge difference. There are also retreats for survivors of sexual abuse, and Gold Star Families. Drives for school supplies for Military children, clothing and other supplies for infants, food for Veterans in need. Remembrance of Fallen Heroes and support for their families. It is an organization that continues to give.

Project New Hope is an amazing group that provides retreats for veterans and caregivers as well as their families. I have had the pleasure of going to a caregiver retreat in Maine. Not only did I get respite (which was much needed) I forged lifelong friendships. There were therapy sessions that helped with caregiver as well as understanding how we can help ourselves in order to help our veterans. We were offered music therapy, horse therapy, art therapy and reflexology. As well as a nutition seminar and believe it or not free time. There were fishing tours with Shawn and an amazing boat ride around the harbor. The food was all including and incredible. Bill and everyone associated with project new hope were encouraging, kind and informative. I left there with invaluable skills and friendships that were forged over coffee and Smores by the fire. It is difficult to put into words how amazing this retreat was. I cannot wait for my husband to go on a veteran retreat by himself. I know that he will have a life changing trip like I did. Thank you is not enough not only for what was given but also what I have taken away from this retreat. For anyone who is looking for respite and a place to feel understood and gain knowledge that will help you long after you've gone I recommend project new hope. They also help with school supplies, baby supplies and give children of veterans a bright Christmas! They work tirelessly so that families can be with people who truly understand and care. Thank You Bill and Project New Hope for all you do!

Bill Moore-(Project New Hope ) is my cousin. He is extremely caring, generous, and always there for others. His dream was big, but the organization was small, then it reached to an all time high once people realized how much Bill and his team do for the Veterans. We need this organization to continue to thrive, due to the fact it helps so many. Those who care enough to build an organization to help others deserve to have followers, and supporters. Great bunch of people, and supporters make Project New Hope a huge success. Thanks Bill and team for all you do. Our Veterans, and families deserve the best. Be proud, keep standing strong, for the sometimes forgotten heroes of our Country. God Bless

I had a blast, making lasting friendships and being able to spend time with those walk the same journey as I do. I went back in 2018, and again I had a fantastic time. I am a veteran and a Certified Reflexologist. I have attended a retreat as a veteran and I have volunteered at 3 retreats as a reflexologist. Project New Hope is an outstanding organization offering retreats completely free of charge to veterans and their families, from all service branches and all military eras. PNH knows and continues to anticipate the needs of many veterans. The retreats offer safe spaces for quiet reflection or for participation in workshops, fun and games, sing-a-longs on rainy nights, campfires and Smores (a guilty pleasure) and holistic health treatments. During any PNH retreat you may see volunteers in Reflexology, Acupuncture, Massage, Reiki, Chiropractic, Mindfulness and more. I love being among fellow veterans in the retreats' peaceful and natural environments. Kudos to PNH for thinking outside the box by offering these retreats with useful workshops and holistic offerings, all viable options in aiding PTS, MST, depression, addiction, difficulties readjusting and much, much more. I am grateful that PNH allows me the opportunity to continue to serve my country by helping veterans through holistic health. I look forward to offering reflexology at the upcoming women's retreat in October. Bill Moore, Tracy Vaillancourt and Tammy as well as Paul, Bill (the other Bill ;^o) have hearts of pure gold. I attended one of the awsome women veterans retreats as a mental health presenter. The environment is peacful, restorative, and welcoming. Project New Hope provided the veterans with numerous opportunities to bond most notabley at the bond fire each evening that would last until the wee hours as the women enjoyed them so much. The women had multiple wellness activities to choose from that addressed both mental health and physical well being while also allowing for down time for the veterans to spend as they wished. The food was wonderful, far beyond my expectations. Bill Moore demonstrates exceptional dedication and leadership to this fantastic non-profit organization and the volunteers were amazing in their in their desire to help and do everything possible to make the week-end a memorable one for the women veterans who have proudly served our country.

I have worked with Project New Hope at 3 of the weekend retreats they offer veterans. They make everyone feel like one of the family, and provide extremely valuable R&R, services, and connections for veterans and their family members. My non-profit organization delivers integrative health care services to vets. We've appreciated PNH's openness to offering our work to vets at their retreats. A few vets from each retreat who are close to our Boston-area location have come back to us for repeat care.
The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is... the crux of PNH's work (which serves HUNDREDS of folks at EACH event and requires MASSIVE amounts of coordinating) is done by about 4 people, which makes scheduling and communication during the weekend is a minor challenge. The upside is... there is a huge demand for what PNH provides.
