Causes: Human Services
Mission: Project NAS is a recognized 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Corporation in South Carolina, established since 2011, dedicated to reducing recidivism of incarceration in South Carolina. Project NAS encourages whole-person development by promoting: Personal Enhancement Skills, Education, Employment Readiness, Finance Management, Group Work, Building Healthy Relationships by Creating new social networks. Project NAS serves a population with unique needs, individuals recently being released from South Carolina Department of Corrections, Youth released from The Department of Juvenile Justice, At risk youth and the families of this under-served population, and families and love ones of incarcerated or formerly incarcerated people. The programs at Project NAS (Not A Statistic) is to enhance economical opportunities, broaden scopes as it relates to social, intellectual, physical wholeness, promote good citizenship and to act in the capacity of a catalyst between individuals with legal challenges and employers as well as the community.
Target demographics: reduce recidivism and provide life changing opportunities to formerly incarcerated individuals
Direct beneficiaries per year: 20 people with providing guidance and finanacial assistance to apply for pardons, and provided financial assistance for 10 people to enroll in college.
