Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Community & Neighborhood Development, Economic Development, Environment, Food
Mission: Empowering veterans to restore love, pride, and purpose in neighborhoods through STEAM based projects, urban redevelopment, and new workforce and economic development.
Results: To date, PLC has conceived, designed, and completed the construction of the following. 1. Peace and Friendship Garden on Somers St (Hill District) for all neighborhood residents to grow fresh vegetables and fruits. 2. Native Pollinator Gardens on South Ave (Wilkinsburg). 3. The Green Space and Hill District Pop-Up Farmer Market space on Centre Ave (Hill District) along the revitalization corridor of the Hill District Master Plan. Project Love Coalition is currently working on recruiting a development team for the construction of it's new mixed-use resource center where veterans can live-work-create.
Target demographics: Veterans and non-veterans that are low income from dis-invested communities.
Geographic areas served: Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Southwestern Pennsylvania
Programs: Veterans Arts + Housing Collaborative, Farming Agricultural initiative, Ecology, Urban Women's Veterans initiative, Green S.E.N.S.E initiative.
