Project Linus provides comfort in the form of quilts, afghans and blankets to children in need of comfort. They provide these items in hospitals to make the experience less scary. They also provide them to law enforcement officers and to victims of school shootings, and natural disasters. I am proud to share my skills with this wonderful organization AND they have a high rating for non profits. Donations are used for the children not for high administration costs. Can’t beat that!

I picked up crocheting and knitting again during COVID, hoping that others might be able to benefit from my handwork therapy. I've followed Project Linus for years online, but being able to donate my work knowing that the afghans and blankets will bring comfort and warmth to kids in need has been rewarding.
This group is fabulous Everyone loves making the blankets for the children. The blankets look great you can tell they are made with love. It’s a great feeling to be part of this loving, giving group
I have volunteered with Project Linus for several years. Among the areas that receive our blankets are local hospitals. As children are admitted for surgery staff offer the children a special blanket from Linus. Staff relay that the children are very comforted by the act of a hug in the form a a blanket.
I have been so impressed by the acts of kindness from all of the Blanketers in our are.
Thanks to Project Linusfor all of the wonderful support to children in need of love and a hug!
This group puts much love in their quilts, crocheted and fleece blankets that are given to sick children and veterans! I am blessed to be a member of Project Linus!
Project Linus is a wonderful grassroots charity that delivers blankets and love to children in distress. Not only are children soothed in times of trauma by the blankets, but also the crafters who make them find a sense of purpose and community. And all of the blankets are made with creativity and love! The local chapters across the United States are fueled by love, donations of fabric and yarn, donations of meeting space, and gifts from the heart.
I love you this organization is wonderful, it helps a lot with blankets for children and adults, I highly recommend it
I am honored to be a member of this organization. To be called a Blanketeer is such a blessing. Helping young people and children find comfort in a blanket that I have made is so fulfilling.
Project linus gave me a reason to sew. After I lost my mother to cancer, it was part of my grieving and healing. I love to sew and now I have friends to sew with and we donate our blankets to help others in their time of need.
I decided to learn how to quilt so I could donate them to this amazing cause. So many kids have gotten these during a time that they needed the most comfort.
I started working with Project Linus after my dad read an article. This is by far the most fulfilling community work I do. I have often allowed my students to pick a blanket for a "boy who is 7 and loves trucks...." It makes them think about someone less fortunate and leads to great discussions. The other great thing is that ANYONE can help. I have received blankets from 1st and 2nd graders as well as from 90+ year olds who have told me that making blankets gives them a purpose!
I love the fact that you can donate locally or at any chapter in the US. I've also purchases items from the website, which goes to the national organization. The looks on children's faces when they receive a blanket is priceless.
Blanketeers have hearts of gold and not only help their communities with their donations, they help each other, encouraging those of us who are not as sure of our crafts, offering patterns and advice. Just an overall good feeling working with Project Linus.
Project Linus is a great group of people working to make children happier, more relaxed, feel safer. They make or get donated homemade blankets/quilts, then they are given to organizations that help children, (accidents, surgeries, abuse/ shelters, fires, etc. it’s a wonderful organization.
I have been a blanketeer for five years. I look forward to our monthly meetings. Our group turns in between 60 and 100 blankets each month. They are beautiful creative blankets. So inspiring and we all share. I so appreciate what is done in Kansas City to make project Linus possible. This is a perfect way for me to give back where there is such a need. Find a Chapter and get involved it is so much fun.
Project Linus is a wonderful charity with thousands of volunteers around the United States. The “blanketeers” make quality blankets and quilts for stressed or hospitalized children from newborn through age 18. In times of disaster the volunteers step up and provide age-appropriate and colorful blankets to comfort those in need.
I have been working with Project Linus since 2011. All the hard work, love and care that goes into a blanket is returned exponentially when a child receives that blanket and cherishes it. This organization not only helps children in need but it gives people a chance to have purpose in their lives. I plan to continue to be a volunteer for this organization for many years to come. I am honored to be a volunteer!!!
Providing comfort to kids going thru trauma.
Giving to kids in abuse shelters, cps, casa, emergency rooms, and many more situations.
I have been a member of Project Linus for over 20 years. My whole family is involved and it is such a rewarding experience for us to volunteer and make blankets for kids in need. They are so helpful to our community and really care about their volunteers too. I am always out there telling people more great things about this organization and how to join and become a part of helping others in your community. I have met life long friends through Project Linus.
I have been working with Project Linus for o er 20 years and I fell so blessed to be able to help with so many children in need of comfort. They are amazing to have so many great volunteers to help in time of need.
The friendships I have made through is organization is truly a blessing.
It's a great way to use my hobby to do good things for other people. We've comforted so many children in a variety of situations. I've met lots of wonderful friends through my local chapter. The national leaders are helpful and professional.
I have seen the joy that receiving a new, handmade blanket, brings to sick, scared or traumatized kids in our community. The blankets are a real comfort to them and I’m happy to be a part of these blanket “hugs”.
This is a win/win nonprofit. So many older people sewing, or knitting blankets to fill their time, as well as 100s of kids each month receiving a new blanket. Just an amazing organization
Project Linus is a fabulous, national organization that provides children in crisis a sense of comfort and love through the gift of new, handmade blankets. Volunteer blanket makers called “blanketeers” generously give their time and talents to make blankets for these children, from infants to 18 years old.
I have been a coordinator with Project Linus for 23 years and it is such a positive and powerful force in my life and in the lives of those we touch. We lovingly create handmade security blankets for ill and traumatized children, children in some sort of crisis. This organization works together to support each other and no kinder group have I ever met. My chapter has delivered over 40,000 blankets to needy children and are proud to be a part of National PL with nearly 9 million blankets given, which means 9 million children whom we have comforted. Best decision I ever made to become involved! Truly a mission bigger than ourselves!
Project Linus is a great organization. Project Linus provides quilts and blankets to children in hospitals and agencies throughout the United States. I have been a Project Linus volunteer since 2014.
I have been a member for over 15 years. It is a Great organization that helps provide Blankets, Afgans that are homemade to children that are going through difficulties. This group is in all 50 US States and they also have mystery challenges for thou's that want to challenge themselves in making blankets.
I love being a part of Project Linus! It feels good to use a much loved hobby (crocheting, quilting) to bring comfort to a child in crisis.
As a chapter coordinator, I see first hand how dedicated the national staff is to supporting local chapters, how generous and creative local artists and groups are in the making and giving of blankets, and how grateful the community partners and recipients are when we deliver blankets. Working with Project Linus has introduced me to new people, given me an outlet for my own creativity, and let me serve my community in a useful way. Project Linus is a great organization.
Great group of people who care for children and people in need of a bit of comfort through the blankets members make and donate.
I started quilting for Project Linus a number of years ago. It has been a very rewarding experience knowing my labors of love go to babies and children in crisis. The Project Linus recipients are physically, emotionally, and/or mentally tormented and in need of a hug and consolation that we are unable to give in person. So our blankets show up for them.
I live in a rural Northern Arizona Community. I had been crocheting blankets for children in Pima County in Southern Arizona, however, when we moved to the mountains, there were no Project Linus Chapters in this area at all. Reaching out to neighbors who enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and quilting, we started making blankets for our local community and soon discovered there was an overwhelming need for blankets for children in crisis or in need. Project Linus not only began to fill some of this critical need, but also began to give purpose and fulfillment to the many ladies who were creating beautiful blankets using their skills every day to bring comfort and warmth to the precious children in our community and eventually to our entire County. Project Linus has brought so much meaning to all those who choose to become involved. Cannot say enough good things about this organization.
Making quilts for children in any type of trauma makes my heart feel good! Have been sewing for this fabulous organization for 18 years! Not a seconds regret…..
I’ve been making quilts and long arm quitting for my local Project Linus Chapter for 9 months and the experience is fantastic! Everyone is so welcoming and helpful and it is wonderful to work with such awesome volunteers towards a common goal- making blankets for children we will never meet, but who will be touched and comforted with a blanket!
This charity attracts the most loving, giving and talented people. As a chapter coordinator and a blanketeer I know that all sorts of children are recipients. Crises have no socio-economic, race, gender, or any other dividers. Kids all get hurt, get sick or have a family emergency. All sorts of kids will need the comfort of a blanket, and it is so much better when the love shines through a handmade blanket. These are usually made by someone who doesn't even know the child-- they just love children and they love to use their talents to share with someone else. Linus Van Pelt set the example that blankets offer security and it is perfectly acceptable to wrap yourself in a blanket when feeling kind of low. When you are feeling better this same blanket might be a tent, a cape or a magic carpet. Time for me to sew on another blanket!
Project Linus is a wonderful nonprofit that makes blankets and quilts for children ages birth to 18. The group helps to comfort children in difficult times.
As a volunteer you receive the benefit of new friends and the rewards of helping children and their family.
If you are looking for a volunteer group to make an impact for the community and yourself, check out a local group.
Not only do we give blankets to hospitalized children, we contribute to many children in need. Earthquake, fire, flood, and refugee children can receive our blankets and our blessings.
I love donating to this organization and seeing all the deserving people receive comforting, loving blankets.
This is a very kind and helpful group. I’m so glad to be part of the group for the last 4 years. It’s a “feel good” to be able to sew blankets for those children and families going through a very tough time in their lives and hopefully the blanket brings hope and a smile
I love volunteering as a quilter for Project Linus. Not only have I been able to contribute to my community through my sewing skills, but I’ve met many kindred spirits who have encouraged me with their wisdom and laughter.
I love being a part of Project Linus. It gives me purpose as I create quilts to bring comfort to children. We rarely see the children who receive our blankets, but sometimes hear heart warming stories from families or individuals about their blanket. This is a wonderful group of like minded people who love working together for a beautiful purpose.
An awesome organization for knitters, crocheters and quilters. I particularly like the Mystery Quilt Challenge. Besides making an awesome quilt there is the pleasure of learning new techniques. This year’s challenge is just getting started. I encourage others to join.
I’ve donated about 25 quilts to this organization so far. My only regret is that I haven’t kept a good record so the actually number may be more.
I have been one of the many blanket makers for this organization for years. To see the hard work of so many people from the president of the organization, our local coordinators and the thousands of blankets makers all over the country who donate their time, energy and materials all in the hopes of helping a young person in a bad situation feel better, feel loved.
I am proud to be part of such a giving organization who asks so little for itself.
Project Linus has been a lifesaver for me and a life changer. I started out volunteering, making blankets making quilts. As Time passed and I moved I started volunteering again and then became a coordinator. Being a coordinator totally changed my life and my perception of the world. Not only did I learn so many new levels of assistance that can be provided but I also saw the great works that the organizations were able to do. Being able to provide those blanket hugs that a person could use immediately to provide Comfort to a child was amazing. My personal views also changed. Through working with Project Linus, my heart changed too. Not only is it a great organization because it helps children it's a great service organization because it helps connect people. The more I participate and I'm able to give through Project Linus the more it helps me. Thank you Project Linus for changing my life!
the work that project linus does is so important. giving the gift of comfort to a child in need is priceless. i am so honored to help project linus.
I have volunteered for Project Linus for 15 years. The blankets we give to children are priceless to them. We usually do not see the children who receive the blankets, we get letters or feedback from hospitals, shelters and pantries. Years later we still hear from people who have their Project Linus blanket and will not give it up. Our blankets bring so much joy and comfort to children. When I deliver blankets to our local shelter I hear so many amazing stories. One mother thanked me for a baby blanket. She only had Dad’s shirt to use as a blanket and it was falling apart. Another child saw me delivering blankets and begged me for one with rainbows. Her Mom said they had to leave in a hurry and they only had the clothes they were wearing and pleaded with me to let her have the blanket. The child got the blanket and just squeezed it until I left, the Mom had tears in her eyes while thanking me. There are so many stories but the best part about being a volunteer for Project Linus is knowing the happiness and love each child feels when getting one of our blankets.
I have been a part of Project Linus for close to 20 years now. My role has primarily been making blankets for children (ages birth-18) in need (hospitals, disasters, social services and more) and I have donated 110 blankets. Throughout the years, I have received thank you notes from families and children whose lives have been touched by the Project Linus mission and been comforted by a simple act of kindness. I have always found the folks who run the organization to be caring, thoughtful, and kind. Now that I am retired, I have become more involved - participating in sorting days and sewing days with our local chapter and now as editor of our local chapter's newsletter. It would be hard to find a more dedicated group of volunteers!
I have been involved with this organization since 2009. Our group helps both the children who receive the blankets and the Blanketeers who make the blankets. Children are comforted by the wonderful special blanket they receive. The Blanketeers of all ages, find that they are still a useful member of the community, and their talents are appreciated.
As a Project Linus Coordinator in the Northern Nevada Area, when we get feedback from a family whose child has received a blanket, we get that love and warm feeling back. I have a wonderful group of volunteers who show up every Thursday to help make the blankets. In our area with not so much population as major cities, we have delivered over 15,000 blankets since our chapter was opened. We only have a few hundred thousand people in my local area I serve.
