Mission: Project healthy community (phc) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the well-being of persons of all ages within communities in need through nutrition and education programs. Our work is servicing those in the greater detroit area. Examples of programming are: mobile pantry - phc provides an average of 22,000 pounds of food monthly to 350-400 families in detroit, and a 25 minute health related discusion to 50 family leads at a time. Fundamentals of understanding nutrition (fun) pantry - phc provides nutritional enrichment education to k-5th graders through interactive lessons and focuses on healthy eating. Summer camp for 50 kids k-5 with enrichments including sports, swimming, music, cooking, arts and crafts, nutrition and gardening. Urban community garden onsite for educational purposes as well as fresh food to supplement food programs. PHC also has an emerging scholar program for high school juniors around career mindedness, goal setting and work/internship and volunteer placements over the summer between junior and senior year. A wellness center offers prevention and education to families and incorporating wrap-around services for the family
