Project Fire Buddies has been a truly special part of my families lives. They have stepped up when most would go running, true to a Fire Fighters calling. From extravagant gifts to hugs during hard times, they continue to amaze me with their love and support. Truly one of the most incredible organizations I have encountered. Project Fire Buddies will always hold a special place in my heart for all they have done for my daughter and me.
This charity is by far very near and dear to my heart. As a firefighter we see people in there darkest days. This charity takes those same people and makes an everyday hero a superhero in the eyes of children fighting terrible illnesses that no person, let along a child, should ever face! My hats off to the brave members that support and run this charity that support these children!
This incredible nonprofit are selfless, kind, amazing humans who give their time to help others any moment of every day that they may be needed. The help they give within communities has become something so important that they deserve recognition. They’ve shown us nothing but kindness & I don’t know where we would be without them!
Isla is a sassy, kind, fun and loving 3 year old. On May 20, 2022 our family's world turned upside down and inside out when her pediatrician sent us for a head CT of her sinus. She was quickly diagnosed with stage 4/group 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma and it had already spread to her lymph nodes and lung. Within a week of diagnosis her eye became affected by the tumor as well, causing permanent loss of vision in her left eye. Due to the eye being affected she needed to start chemo and radiation urgently. She has completed 33 radiation treatments, the absolute most her little body is allowed, and will complete 42 weeks of chemo over a years’ time.
The first time the Orland Fire District met Isla it was to take her by ambulance to the local hospital. A couple of weeks later we were put in contact with Project Fire Buddies. My daughter is no long afraid of firemen (because the took her to the hospital), but she raves about their visit with her and her new water slide for the yard. In a time where my child can’t be a kid much, they have done all they can to make sure she is able to enjoy her childhood through illness. I will forever be a Project Fire Buddies fan and supporter
I have watched PFB expand from the beginning. Hopefully the rest of the US will see its impact and generosity soon
