This is a unique program for the Paducah area that has filled a large void in our healthcare system. The uninsured and under insured are often granted medical care through different offices or grants but say that person needs a piece of medical equipment. What then? In the past they have had to rely solely on churches or individuals to try and find the equipment they need to stay independent or perform basic tasks such as cooking or showering. This is where Project CARAT Paducah comes in with a caring staff and warehouse full of equipment that has been cleaned, inspected, and is ready for patient use.
When I heard Medicare considers a shower chair or transport bench a luxury item, I decided our community, of very giving people, can help. I see wheelchairs, walkers, shower/transport benches at consignment stores and yard sales on a weekly basis. I was determined to make a difference.
Just try standing on one leg and trying to get into a tub/shower combo and remain standing on one leg while you proceed to wash your entire body. Just try it. I think you will quickly find out that a shower chair would be a necessity rather than a luxury. Without it also increases your chances of falling and adding another medical condition.
Project CARAT Paducah, Inc. was the answer. They have made it possible for hundreds of people in our community with no insurance get the durable medical equipment they need to make life easier for them at a fraction of the cost.
Please call Project CARAT Paducah, Inc. (270) 538-6844 if you have any durable medical equipment you would like to donate. It will be sanitized and distributed to Kentucky residents with disabilities who otherwise could not afford it.
Thank you & God Bless You
I broke my big toe in two places and could put zero weight on it for 6 weeks. The crutches I used literally wore my armpits raw. I called Project CARAT Paducah and they rented me a knee scooter and it made my world a better place. Thank you Project CARAT Paducah for caring about your community. You are awesome!
