Thank you for taking the time to review Project Bread, but we’d like to clarify a key point. The Walk for Hunger was born out of the idea that working together, we could create change. For our 50th Walk being celebrated this year, we are indeed asking everyone connected to Project Bread to join the movement by helping recruit, engage, and empower the next generation. However, participation is NOT required. The only new "requirement" we are asking of our partners is to help us spread the word, in whatever capacity you can – hanging a sign, sharing a post on social media, telling your friends and family about it – and then letting us know how you helped get the word out. In addition, we are asking that our partners join the movement to end hunger by participating - either walking or volunteering and raising awareness. With the support of funded agencies we can send a strong message that hunger is a serious public health problem and together we can solve it. I hope this clarifies our message. Thank you!
Review from Guidestar
This organization does good work for Greater Boston - however, they engage in the questionable practice of requiring any non-profits who apply for funding to participate in their Walk for Hunger fundraising event - not a trivial investment of time and resources for many organizations struggling to survive with bare bones staff.
