connecting people to their communities to ensure long-term success.
Target demographics: vulnerable children, youth and families
Direct beneficiaries per year: 1,053 children and youth, 15 young mothers with babies, 116 parents, and not included in the previous numbers, 140 additional families
Geographic areas served: Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware and the District of Columbia
Programs: Our program focuses are children and families, juvenile justice and behavioral health. Programs include:
Foster Care for high-need youth: we provide specialty training and certify foster parents, then support the entire family throughout the placement.
Kinship Care: we offer support and provide resources to grandparents, aunt and uncles who have stepped in to care for a family member’s children.
Youth Programming: for at-risk foster youth, we offer after school programs and more, to help ensure a successful transition to adult self-sufficiency and career success.
It has been my distinct honor to serve on the PLC board. As the longest serving member of this current compostion of members, I know the quantifiable criteria established for service on the board-particularly the commitment and dedication required. Each and every member clearly understands policy decisions made have direct implications and consequences for the fragile population of young people we indirectly serve. As an "evidence based" organization commited to providing quality "life impacting" services for young people, PLC is in my mind, the standard bearer and an organization worthy of exemplary model status.
