Words will never fully convey how grateful I am for the team at Pro Bono Partners for their exceptional guidance that has helped us navigate this important time in our organization’s history. We could not have navigated the merger and the numerous components without the guidance from the wonderful volunteer attorneys and the PBPO team. The peace of mind of knowing that we were in such expert hands has been invaluable. I know our organization is poised for the future because of the wise and thoughtful counsel of the PBPO team and volunteer attorneys we have had the privilege to work with. We are stronger, more efficient and wiser because of PBPO!

Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio excels at making it easy for lawyers to connect with wonderful nonprofits to provide free legal services in their area of expertise. For example, they put on Legal Checkups, where a few hours of training is followed by meeting with a nonprofit to go over their mission and legal needs. This approach efficiently provides training for lawyers that they then can use to take on projects for PBPO, provides free in-town CLE that is actually of interest to the lawyers, provides a space for lawyers to engage and interact with pro-bono clients which is inspirational and motivating, and of course helps the nonprofits get a handle on what issues they have and how they can be solved.

Our mission is to communicate, convene, and create resources that build the capacity of nonprofit agencies and the effectiveness of those who work and volunteer in them. We believe that building stronger nonprofits helps to build a stronger community. As such, we have collaborated with PBPO on several workshops on critical legal issues including: Best Practices for Non-Profits in the #MeToo Era, Nonprofit Law 101, Legal Nuts and Bolts of Board Meetings, and our first-ever upcoming webinar this November, Employment Law: What Every Nonprofit Needs to Know.

PBPO’s education programs are vital to Miami Valley Nonprofit Collaborative because of our belief that building stronger nonprofits helps to build a stronger Dayton area community. As Dayton moves into the unknown landscape of 2023, our local nonprofits are working to extend the many needed services and resources to our region. PBPO’s educational programming ensures these nonprofits have a strong business foundation, freeing up their space to focus on their missions and directly serve individuals in need. This will ensure that Dayton continues to be the strong, vibrant, and proud community that we are.

PBPO made it so easy for me to volunteer and help a relatively new nonprofit organization that needed some free legal advice. The PBPO staff was proactive, knowledgable and supportive. I really enjoyed working with them. PBPO is by far and away an amazing nonprofit organization - not only because it is well organized and operated, but its mission is focused on supporting other nonprofit organizations by connecting them with experienced attorneys who can help them with their legal needs. It's a win, win, win for the nonprofit clients, the attorney volunteers, and for our community!

My experience during the past five years has been soul-satisfying. I am able to assist non-profit organizations in the areas of my expertise - labor and employment law - because invitations to assist identify those who need help in those areas in which I have worked and taught. Follow-through has been immediate and thorough to be introduced to the client, to determine the progress of my assistance and to answer any questions I may have about the process and my relationship with the client. My hours worked for each client are tracked by the organization for my personal pride and for CLE (Continuing legal education) credit.

Lawyers who strive to give back to their communities can find no better use of their time and talents than helping those organizations in most need of their services, but who can least afford to pay for them. PBPO has provided me with several opportunities to "give back" to local non-profits in many ways. A side benefit to me is the association with the front-line non-profit leaders in our community and the awesome PBPO professionals who make it happen.

The reach of PBPO is broad and deep. As a non-profit dedicated to providing free legal services to non-profits in our community, the organization has a positive impact on a broad array of literally hundreds of non-profits in the Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio area. PBPO has a deep bench of volunteer attorneys and connects volunteer attorneys who have appropriate expertise in the applicable area of the law to provide advice and counsel to non-profits on numerous legal issues. Volunteering with PBPO is a highlight of my legal career! The staff at PBPO make volunteering easy and working with non-profits doing amazing work in our community is extremely rewarding. It is an honor to get to use the legal knowledge and skills I have build in my legal career in a way that directly impacts non-profits in our community.

PBPO offers a great service to non-profits that cannot afford legal advice. Matching attorneys around town with non-profits provides the organizations with resources to ensure that they are operating in accordance with laws and protecting themselves against risks. Volunteering for such a great cause has been a very rewarding experience because it allows me to work with non-profits making a difference in our community.

I've been a volunteer attorney with PBPO many times over the past few years. Each time I have been impressed with the staff at PBPO and the assistance they provide in setting up a meeting with the non-profit client and making sure all involved have the same expectation of legal representation. Each of the client non-profits I worked with are doing amazing work in our community. They were an absolute joy to work with and at the end of the day are so grateful for the legal advice I can provide. I look forward to volunteering with PBPO many times in the future.
