Mission: Children of incarcerated mothers often feel abandoned and rejected, and at an increased risk for incarceration themselves. By providing parenting training for the mothers and a home-like setting for ongoing visits with their children, MATCH helps break the cycle of children following their mother''s footsteps to prison.
Programs: MATCH provides parenting classes and support for incarcerated mothers at the North Carolina Correctional Center for Women. After graduating from the Basic Parenting Class, mothers have private visits with their children in our home-like visitation Center where they may play games, read books, cook and eat a meal together, and bond as a family. These visits are supervised by volunteers. The mothers participate in ongoing parenting classes and receive individual coaching. We also host special events for MATCH families and provide support for children's caregivers. MATCH assists families with the cost of gas to travel from across the state to the prison and brings children who live outside of North Carolina to Raleigh twice a year at no cost to them.
