I choose the Prineville Senior Center because when I posted a question as to what non profits where in Prineville because I was looking to donate the comment was made that our seniors are so easily over looked. Which got me to thinking and looking back at a few things and she was right. We tend to want to help out animals and children way more. Which is not a bad thing but have you ever stopped to think that if it wasn't for a couple of seniors you would not be here. I cherished my grandparents but I never really stopped to look at then as being a senior who it was now time to assist and then help till they no longer need the help.
I encourage you THIS YEAR to make a change in how you not only see an elderly person but how you take the time to help them out. You never know when you will no longer have that opportunity as I was so reminded of this week when someone I loved dearly passed away and I had forgotten to take the time out of my busy life and just go and visit. The senior center here in Prineville really cares about the seniors in our community and they go above and beyond to make sure that they get a healthy meal for example. Ive seen the meals that the seniors in Portland get ( my mom is semi homebound ) and they DO NOT look anything like what Prineville seniors get.
So please I encourage you to donate this year. If you feel you don't have enough money to make a difference that is ok they could always use more volunteers. Do you have a senior neighbor? Maybe you have not seen them lately , It may be because they do not want to bother any one or they are embarrassed about their situation at hand. How about cooking a little bit more for dinner tonight and setting them out with a warm cooked meal so they can take care of their spouse who cant take of them selves any longer.
