Mission: Princeton in Latin America (PiLA) is a postgraduate fellowship organization that seeks to impact the lives of young Princeton and non-Princeton graduates by placing them in yearlong fellowships with public service, humanitarian, and government organizations in Latin America. Emphasizing the power of firsthand work experience to shape young people's attitudes and mobilize them to action on behalf of social change, Princeton in Latin America places fellows with Latin American organizations working to overcome the social, economic, political, and environmental barriers to development in the region. By working with local and regional organizations, it aims to build partnerships between Princeton and Latin American communities and to facilitate transcontinental learning, communication, and multicultural understanding among residents of the Americas. It extends the benefits of a Princeton education and commitment to Latin America beyond the classroom and affirms the importance of service as an effective way of addressing social needs.
