After my training in the spring of 2001 by Marie McCoy, then Director of PRC, I was a counselor from that time until September of 2005. I had moved to The Woodlands in August 2004, but continued to drive to Rosenberg as a counselor for one more year. I had to resign because I was going to have open heart surgery. My entire experience at PRC was extremely positive. While I was there the clients who came to this facility grew, and consequently, we moved from a smaller facility to larger quarters in the same shopping strip. As more ladies came, the staff was enlarged to have an Assistant Director (Gloria Torres) and a Client-Services Director Cynthia Hsueh) There were approximately 16 volunteer counselors working 4-hour shifts. The facility was open 5 days and 2 evenings a week. As time went on a wonderful new program was started called "Learn, Earn and Plan" or LEP for short. Clients who were expecting babies could earn vouchers or "Mommy Money" by becoming educated in the the care of the babies by reading books, watching videos, and coming to well-planned classes on the care and health of not only their children, but of themselves. There were classes on relationships with their partners and parents. Additional mentoring could be obtained by coming in to have special counseling sessions with a counselor trained to help each individual to plan for the future. In addition there was a trained post-abortion counselor to help those young ladies who had post-abortion depression. My entire experience was very very positive, and it was difficult for me to leave. I saw so much positive help given to our dear ladies and even a few men who believed strongly in not having abortions. They came as support for their partner, and to learn more about being a father. The people I worked with, started with Marie McCoy, our Executive Director at the time, to all of the volunteers whether they were counselors. or who worked in the "baby store" who displayed all of the donated baby items (including car seats, some baby beds, dressers, and other baby furniture) along with all of the other baby clothes, some formula, and diapers, and other baby equipment. All of the volunteers were highly motivated, and especially very compassionate people. It was heartbreaking to each of us if we lost a phone client, or someone who came in who decided to go ahead and have an abortion. One of our greatest joys was when our girls/ladies who come back to visit and proudly show us their babies. Some of our clients would continue to get counseling after the birth of their babies. We always loved seeing them come back. If they were having trouble financially, or other serious problems we had a wealth of agencies to direct them to to get help. Extremely accurate, highly confidential records were kept on each client. I just cannot say enough good about my experience at The Pregnancy Resource Center of Fort Bend County. I truly miss being a counselor, and I certainly miss being with some of the most wonderfully kind, intelligent, and loving women I have ever known.

I have been volunteering with PRC for most of the past 18 years. This is an organization where Christians of different denominations work together for the common goal of helping the women of our community choose life. PRC has widespread community support, dedicated staff and volunteers, and an involved board of directors. I also give PRC my personal financial support at a significant level.
