Mission: Pregnancy care center's mission is to provide health, wellness and relationship services and education for women and men facing unplanned pregnancies.
Programs: Client services: in 2017, with the help of approximately 50 weekly volunteers, pcc clients and their support partners participated in more than 1,000 coaching sessions and attended 226 classes. Through their active involvement in coaching sessions and classes, clients earned more than 64,000 diapers, wipes and baby items. Pcc provides a variety of vital services and resources that help equip this at-risk population to achieve their future goals.
medical services: in 2017, pcc served more than 1,200 clients with over 800 pregnancy tests and 580 ultrasounds. Of the clients served, 62% reported having no health care coverage, including medicaid and 61% report earning less than $14,000 annually. Of the client population served, more than 11% resided in zone 1 of springfield, mo. Zone 1 has been identified as the area of the city with higher negative indicators such as crime, illness and poverty; meanwhile, positive indicators such as food and play space access were lacking. In 2017, 64% of the clients initially seen on the icu medical mobile unit continued to participate in pccs full program at our main location.
community education: in 2017, pcc presented nearly 60 community presentations, including participation in community engagement fairs at all five major college campuses in the area. Pcc collaborated with other local agencies and businesses in approximately 18 community events with the goal of serving and educating our community about healthy relationship choices and pregnancy services. In addition to having a physical presence at various community events, pcc educates the community via links and articles on our websites. In 2017, these resources helped and equipped more than 3,600 community members.
