as a proud veteran of the United States Navy I know and understand what it takes and what it means to dedicate and volunteer your time to the community, placing others safety and well being above my own. I entered this organization not knowing what to expect, only knowing that I wanted to continue to give back to my community and after going through extensive training and actually working with this team I have found all members to be dedicated and honored to be servants of our community like myself. I have fun working with this great group of persons and serving our community with pride. This organization has helped me fill somewhat of a void in brotherhood and camaraderie that I was missing since I retired from the military, I thank the members of this prestige organization for their dedication, motivation and dire determination to serve this community, and would encourage my closest relatives to be a part of this great organization

I graduated from Community Emergency Response Training in Spring 2017 at Constable Precinct One and know my instructors (HFD, FBI, Constable, CERT, Chaplain), were the best in their fields. Precinct One CERT encouraged me to also join 4 other organizations that help the Houston community, so now I am a well-rounded first responder.

My CERT training allowed me to volunteer with the Office of Emergency Management during the devastating Hurricane Harvey in 2017. The Precinct One CERT team was deployed to help flood victims to agencies. Some of our folks lost their personal trucks.

This is a disaster response group that embraces serving Greater Houston from the homeless to government officials. We enjoy collaborating with fellow CERT teams, Harris County, the City of Houston, Precinct 1 Constable, and places of worship to provide support for community festivals/parades, marathons, back-to-school/toy drive events, emergency response training, and disaster rescue and recovery.

As the fourth largest city, filled with disaster opportunities, we aim to have every Houstonian ready and wise to prevent issues and recover quickly.

When you are taking on great responsibility saving others, you bond like a family and celebrate the bravery and victories. See pics below.

I joined Harris County Precinct One CERT team about a year ago. Not knowing what to exspect. A pleasant surprise seeing how I like to give back to my community. It has been very rewarding for me to know that I can help others. Combined with Community Leaders and Law Enforcement has proven that we are Houston Strong. Louisiana has a Navy but we Houston's Army. Boots on the ground for Htown.
