Mission: The potomac boat club, inc. Participates in and promotes the sport of rowing for all age groups, and at all levels of competitive intent. The club has several hundred members, including participants in its several competitive teams.
Programs: The club supports the engagement of athletes with the sport, community, and river, at many different levels. The clubs open scullers program provides support to olympic hopefuls and has a long track record of sending club members to the summer olympics and the us national team. The club hosts a we can row program designed to connect breast cancer survivors to one another and empower them through the sport of rowing. The club also provides innumerable opportunities for members to compete at different levels on the local, national, and international stages. The club has also hosted the washington and lee high school's rowing program for over sixty years.
the club also provides an outlet for members to engage with community organizations related to area parks and river usage, such as the friends of georgetown waterfront park, friends of rock creek park, the next-door key bridge boathouse, the thompson boat center, the anacostia community boathouse, alexandria rowing center, and old dominion boat club further down the river, and the kennedy center expansion project. Finally, the club and its members strive to maintain the history and historic presence and architecture of the club itself.
the club hosts one large-scale rowing regatta every fall, the scullers' head of the potomac regatta.
