Absolutely disheartening. Was led on twice about adopting two different dogs. First dog we had an at home zoom meeting with Linda and took her a while to follow up. Went to a fundraiser event they had and all Linda said to us was “where is your husband we need your husband and walked away.” We went up to her asking about the dog and she basically said forget about that dog and showed us the rest of the dogs they had at the event. We fell in love with another dog and even met the foster mom who gave us her number to follow up about meeting him when the whole family is available. We followed up and she let us know what days that WEEK works best for her, the earliest day we could all meet him. We figured out a day and she never responded, we texted her again and no response, then called her, no response, and left a voicemail. Didn’t answer until later saying that dog was also adopted. Totally disappointed being led on and breaking our hearts twice. Probably a freakin scam. Linda is extremely rude not even in person but over emails she does not answer fast and when she does does not even take the time to make sense. Find a shelter or organization that takes the time to know you and help you find a dog that is best for you. Would not recommend to anyone, a big waste of your time and a terrible experience. So upset about this whole experience. Really a shame.
POSH PETS RESCUE - Worst and coldest experience when trying to rescue a puppy and give her a loving home! This place does not want to let go of their dogs for some reason. The literally pry into every aspect of your life, so they know everything about you before they set you up for the meet and greet, and then look for any reason to not allow you to adopt the pet. They literally knew for two days straight and on the application that I had a 14 year old dachshund, we discussed it for two consecutive days. We brought her to the meet and greet, everything went great. The puppy was sitting on my lap scared and wanting to come home with us, we were all ready to go and give her the best home filled with love and constant affection. My 11 year old daughter was super excited, only to be told after 30 minutes of bonding with the puppy, that it wasn't a good fit for us because of our 14 year old dachshund, she's too old for a puppy. REALLY????? YOU knew this all along! WHy tease us and make us buy all new puppy stuff, crate, lease, etc and make us come, only to tell us NO. They'd rather the dog stay in a cold kennel overnight than come home to a loving family??? That's love??? That's caring for a pet? How about thinking about the pet and the family feelings as well. I know puppys are hyper, I have a house and backyard for her to run around in, what is the problem and since when is MY dog your concern? I've kept her alive for 14 years, what is the issue? I work from home, I am home all day monitoring everything, and top of that, I was going to pay $500 to rescue a dog out of the kindness of my heart to take that dog out of that dirty shelter. Seriously?!?! The people that work there are so nasty and unfriendly, just the kind of place you want to get a dog from. There are so many people trying to rescue dogs, but places like this are not allowing the right people to do so. There is also a child involved who was crying the whole way home. Why would you make us come and meet the dog and tease us like that? That's cold and cruel if you ask me. Horrible and nasty. And the supervisor hung up on after we called her and dismissed us. She could careless... it's almost like a power trip, they make you feel as if every answer to every questions is a test that's being graded, and every answer you say is wrong. WTF? I just wanted to rescue a dog, I wasn't asking for anything crazy. You can't have a puppy with an older dog? Never heard of such a thing, that's ridiculous. Why is it so hard to rescue a dog and why be so nasty about it?!? This beautiful puppy will now have to sleep another night in that place.
All I did was call the main number to get more information and try to connect them with donors to help their rescue animals, but all I got was attitude, she talked over me on the phone and hung up before I even had the chance to respond. HOW RUDE.
Seven phones calls with no answer! Not even an on line response, after I had filled out their application, contacted my vet, and friends to tell them to expect a call. This was the most frustrating and ultimately disappointing experience. I gave up.
Why are you posting your dogs for adoption, and then refusing to respond to all the queries that are coming in?! Take your rescue site off the web if this is how you treat people. Let's only hope you treat your dogs better than you do perspective adoptees.
Hands down the biggest waste of time rescue out there. Constantly attempt to inquire about dogs shortly after they are freshly posted and no one responds. Call and get the typical “I have no information I don’t work in that department followed by 0 responses to emails. Rescues cry about how they can’t adopt out fast enough but maybe they should get a clue and realize that the idiots running it are the problem.
Does not answer inquiries. Tried to inquire about 3 different small dogs. No response. I was getting the impression it is intentional. When i found these reviews I now understand why. I applied for one specific but have the capacity to adopt one or more. The pets i inquired about posted preferred to have additional dogs. I am an experienced trainer, handler and work with rehabilitating dogs. Some people think they have all the answers I am sure Linda never bothered to consider maybe she is not experienced enough to set the requirements. Will stop emailing and attempting and you can bet i will never donate to this rescue.
I highly recommend looking at Posh Pets when considering adopting your next pet. We brought Ferguson home a week ago and could not be happier - He is the perfect addition to our family! Vanessa was extremely professional & incredible to work with. She was responsive, upfront with all of Ferguson’s medical history and concerns, and made the process extremely simple. I appreciate Posh Pets’ detailed vetting process to ensure that each animal is matched with the right family. This was a fantastic adoption experience!
Out of all the animal rescues and agencies I've volunteered with over the last 30 years, Posh Pets operating out of the Greenburgh PetSmart truly frightens me. I will list the reasons why. Please remember that plenty of pets need adopting and there's Westchester Humane, Yonkers, Elmsford, North shore, etc. Don't get gaslighted by these witches.
1. Cats are adopted out before being treated for respiratory or behavior issues.
2. Contact with and fostering cats is not allowed.
3. Pet parents are not allowed to bring dogs, other cats or children near the adoption cats even though this is often a good test to see if they will fight at home or get along.
4. Highest adoption fees with least amount of care included.
5. Potential owners are encouraged to use Google and other "articles" to help them deal with behavior issue cats and will be shamed if a cat, dog or child already at home has an issue with one of their feral cats.
6. Volunteer turnover is visible, frequent, and occurs because volunteers are treated poorly and extorted for funds.
7. GO ANYWHERE ELSE!
I adopted a,very cute dog from posh pets who had nipping issues, that escalated over time into vicious biting/drawing blood from everyone in my house. My husband has a blood disorder and can hemorrhage when he bleeds. We were very upset but had to return the dog after discussing the issue with my vet. Linda, was, downright nasty even though I had adopted another dog from her and donated to her charity.
She laid on the guilt and blamed me.
Posh Pets is absolutely amazing. Their dedicated volunteers go above and beyond to give rescue animals a second chance and help find them forever homes. We adopted our dog Lulu in 2014. Not many rescues would save a 15 year old dog from a kill shelter, but Linda did. Lulu has been with us for almost 2 years and is still going strong at nearly 17! It's hard to imagine that her last family gave her up, let alone to the kill shelter in NYC. If it hadn't been for Linda and her volunteers, our Lulu girl would have probably been just another statistic. Instead, she has made our family complete. We couldn't imagine life without her
Adopted a dog named Elizabeth Taylor, who was fostered by a lovely women named Rena. Her and Linda drove from manhattan to exit 62 in long island to bring dog to us, and also meet our other dogs. Both these women were great with us. Linda was also a very nice women, so please adopt or donate to posh pets. We almost didn't because we read some messed up reviews which was not even close to what we experienced. Our new dog is now called Suzy. Also if you want pets spayed or neutered them please.
