St. Joseph's medical center, prior to june 1, 2016, was a wholly owned affiliate of dignity health; sjmc is now wholly owned by port city, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, which is an 80% affiliate of dignity health. Sjmc continues to operate under the same (assigned) medicare and medi-cal provider numbers, and is licensed at the same level with the state of california, serving the county of san joaquin and outlying areas. Sjmc is a 366-bed licensed acute care facility, providing general medical/ surgical care, obstetrics, neonatal icu, emergency services, cancer services, with specialities in cardiac surgery and cardiovascular care, respiratory, and orthopedics. There are numerous ancillary and outpatient support services.

Sjhha continues to be attached to st. Joseph's medical center, which is wholly owned by port city, thereby making sjhha wholly owned by port city. Port city is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, which is an 80% affiliate of dignity health. Sjhha continues to operate under the same (assigned) medicare and medi-cal provider numbers, and is licensed as a hospital based home health agency with the state of california. Sjhha provides skilled nursing care services, social services, occupational, physical, and speech therapies, as well as home health aides.
