This place is special. The participants and staff are wonderful. The Pomeroy Center provides a unique opportunity for the participants to have organic social interaction with their peers in an environment that is set up to support them and their needs.

The Pomeroy Center is amazing! It is a place where you can thrive, grow and be challenged. The staff is committed to everyone and provides many opportunities for individuals to participate in activities regardless of ability. Known in some circles as the "best-kept secret"...the community has a rich pioneering history that has touched and changed lives for over 65 years. Clients and staff both enjoy sharing their many gifts; art, pottery, theater, dance, crafts, Pomeroy Farm to Market products and volunteering throughout San Francisco. Stop by, your life will be changed too!

I had the pleasure of playing a basketball game with The Wildcats, a team at Pomeroy Recreation & Rehabilitation Center in San Francisco, many years ago when a non-profit I volunteered for was challenged to a game. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I was so moved by what PRRC was doing for the intellectually disabled community that I organized a fundraiser for them. Years later, I was tired of working in restaurants, and wanted something new. The interaction I had playing that basketball game with clients of PRRC was my inspiration to seek out a job working with this population and I found that job. Still able to utilize my skills from many years in the Food and Beverage Industry, I developed a culinary program to teach kitchen skills to a wide spectrum of disabilities that included autism, ADD, and Downs Syndrome. All of this happened because of that wonderful day when I was a part of that basketball game.

Pomeroy Center has to be one of the most uplifting places to be YOURSELF. Watching staff and volunteers interact with participants with such kindness and patience is a zen-like experience. Consider the impact this place has had on the lives of countless people affiliated with it since 1952!

PRRC is a sacred place for my family and many others like ours. We have been blessed to have been a part of this wonderful community for going on 24 years. The beautiful staff and voulenteers encourage David to be the best he can be! The friendships he has formed here are lifelong and are so cherrished! When you step foot into our courtyard, there's no other place in the world that will embrace you with that much love! We are so grateful for the Pomeroy Center!

The work the Pomeroy Center does with children, teens, and adults with disabilities is a huge gift to the San Francisco area. Janet Pomeroy's original vision to get these children out of their isolation and institutions and into the community was groundbreaking. Today, the Pomeroy Center continues this pioneering effort through wonderful unique programs such as the live chicken farm and onsite farmers market vocational program, an amazing occupational therapy program including several specially designed sensory facilities, comprehensive therapeutic swimming programs for those with injuries or disabilities, an adapted computer lab, partnerships with many many community organizations allowing clients to go kayaking at Lake Merced or learn how to fish on-site, and the list goes on and on.

My child attends 6 days a week (after school and Saturday respite) all year long and he loves it. When other city programs could not accommodate his needs, the children and teens program filled that crucial gap for us - allowing him to both be independent and learn new skills at his unique level and have so much fun doing it. The staff at the aquatics program have also been amazing to accommodate his needs so he can participate in group classes with typical kids.

Thank you PRRC for being there for us and other families when we didn't know where to go. Thank you for being here for the children teens and adults with disabilities in our community so they can TRULY thrive.

What the PRRC does for the clients it serves is evident from the moment you step foot on the grounds. The volunteers and clients return year after year which is a testament to everyone who spends at Pomeroy.

I am a volunteer at PRRC through the Banner of Love Auxiliary. I have had the opportunity to work with clients , staff and other volunteers and have to say seeing how much the clients enjoy interacting with everyone they come in contact with is inspiring. The number of different activities that are provided by the Center serves the many different personalities of the clients. It is a facility that families can take their disabled loved ones to and know that they will get the best care and a stimulating environment.

I volunteer with this nonprofit via the Junior League of San Francisco. I spend many Saturday's out of the year participating in events and activities with the clients of this facility. I cannot say enough good things about the character of people who both run this facility, and are clients of this facility. The world will continue to be a better place because of nonprofits like this who dedicate their time, energy, and funds to bettering the lives of others.

The PRRC has given me the privilege of volunteering at such a wonderful organization. The staff has always been very supportive in my volunteer efforts, are welcoming each time I visit, patient with volunteers and members and most importantly always encourage volunteers to have fun! It is through both the members' and volunteers actions, smiles and laughs that I know everyone enjoys their time at the PRRC. I know there are plenty of other wonderful organizations in San Francisco and I'm confident I have certainly chosen one of the best!

I am a volunteer at the Pomeroy Recreation and Rehabilitation Center ("PRRC") through the Junior League of San Francisco. Through my volunteering, I have personally seen the rich quality of programs and services that PRRC offers to disabled youth and adults. The programs and services are oriented in a way that not only serves the needs of the clientele, but also focuses on the personal achievement of each client. It is a special place where each person is known by name, and there is a distinct sense of community and joy that spreads throughout the center. PRRC is such a wonderful asset to the Bay Area; I hope it continues for as long as there is a need.

I've been honored and made a better person by serving on the Board for this great institution for the last 7 years. The PRRC serves the developmentally and traumatically disabled community with warmth, compassion, humor and consistent care--its staff is incredibly selfless and devoted. Could not be more proud of an institution, its participants and phenomenal staff.

The Pomeroy Recreation & Rehabilitation Center is such an incredible organization providing extensive support to an under supported population as well as creating a safe and welcoming place for the community. The patience, support and individual care that the employees and volunteers provide the PRRC clients is exceptional. I have volunteered at PRRC for the past 2 years as a part of the San Francisco Junior League on Saturdays and have seen the hard work and passion that goes into the center every day. The staff are always looking to expand their clients skill sets through fun, new and challenging activities and ideas that they do a great job of executing. I have been able to spend time with their Saturday adult respite program and their Saturday children and teens program, both which are very well run. It is always a pleasure working with the staff and fun to meet new and see existing volunteers and clients.

The PRRC is a terrific non-profit. My cousin was a participant in the 1970s and I have been honored to serve this organization as a volunteer and Board member for many years.

The Janet Pomeroy center is the best facility in the city for the disabled community. They serve adults and children and teens in a myriad of ways. The best thing about the Center is that they provide a community in a win/win situation where everyone is taken care of: the disabled person or child, their families, and extended care-givers. Everyone benefits from the services offered. And the most important aspect is that the people who work at the Center really care about the services they offer and are genuinely dedicated to helping others.

The Pomeroy Center is a place filled with joy, positive interactions, and a caring and loving staff. I was unfamiliar with the Center until the last few years, as a co-chair for the Banner of Love fundraiser. I was hooked after that and now I am not only co-chair again this year (yes!!!) but part of an amazing Board of Directors. The Center does such wonderful work for those in need and has been a San Francisco landmark to many "Sunset kids" for over 50 years. Keep up the great work and let's make the PRRC a shining star for many more years to come!!!!!

It is my opinion that this is the happiest place in San Francisco!

I began volunteering here in 2011 and before I even get in the door I'm greeted with smiles, but not just regular smiles, but beaming smiles. The staff are incredibly caring, fun loving, and totally dedicated to the participants. And programs... well there are a gizzillion programs each week for participants to choose from. The Pomeroy Center ROCKS!!!
