The emails sent out by the Poe Museum are informative and fun, plus they let the public know about many excellent events. Also, having made a donation to the Poe Museum, I received a prompt and sincere thank-you note from them, which makes me feel they appreciate any funding received. From the emails, the type and number of events they offer show they are using funds nicely to benefit as much of the public as possible. I believe the Poe Museum truly furthers interest in reading and writing by the work they do-- and they are a gem in our society.
The Poe Foundation is carrying out important work to perserve the life of Edagr Allen Poe and to make his life and work touchable to current and future generations and by promoting, encouraging and supporting those who want to be great contributors to American literature as Poe was. Poe's importance as a writer cannot be over-stressed. I have visited the Poe Museum in Richmond and it was a magical experience. To walk where Poe walked to view the art and stories on the walls, to hear of his life in Richmond and to see the artifacts written in Poe's hand was just marvelous. I had a wonderful time and my tour guide was enthralling as he discussed Poe and his life and works. The museum was closing and it was my last night in Richmond at a conference and the staff gladly gave me the tour.
