Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Agricultural Programs, Food
Mission: Plant It Forward (PIF)’s mission is to train and support refugees to operate urban farms businesses throughout Houston.
Results: • Six (6) Master Farmers, twenty (20) Apprentice Farmers, three (3) Alumni Farmers; • Master Farmers earn an average of 108% of living wage for Harris County through PIFF program-related sales, fiscal year-to-date; • Seven (7) farms in production on five (5) acres of land; one (1) acre of land currently being developed for two (2) new farms.
Geographic areas served: Houston
Programs: The organization trains, certifies, and mentors refugee farmers to operate small urban farming businesses in houston. After training, refugees farmed full-time and sold their produce locally.
