Programs: Planned parenthood of the pacific southwest (pppsw) provides a variety of reproductive health services to its patients. During the period july 1, 2016 - june 30, 2017, pppsw had 259,997 patient visits in its 17 health centers. Over 85% of those visits were provided to patients with no insurance coverage other than government-sponsored programs. Services included 289,823 sti tests, 74,541 pregnancy tests, 35,549 cycles of oral contraception medications, and 25,434 cancer screenings and other reproductive health services. The organization provides care without charge, or at amounts less than its established rates, to patients who meet certain criteria. Charges foregone for services furnished by the organization totaled approximately $988,000 for the fiscal year ended june 30, 2017.
pppsw provides reproductive health care education sessions for the communities which it serves. During the period july 1, 2016 - june 30, 2017, pppsw educated more than 37,536 people. The sessions are performed in a variety of community settings for individuals as well as groups. Additionally, pppsw advocates for increased access to improved reproductive health care in a variety of manners.
