Mission: Planned parenthood of the north country empowers individuals to take responsibility for their sexual and reproductive health by providing health care, support for survivors of sexual assault, education, and advocacy. Our vision is a supportive community where individuals are guaranteed access to sexual and reproductive health care, and trusted to make responsible decisions free of coercion and fear.
Programs: Planned parenthood of the north country new york (ppncny) is a nonprofit organization that provides reproductive health care to women, men and teens in northern new york. Ppncny is licensed by new york state article 28 of the public health law. Ppncny delivers high quality, affordable reproductive health care including: annual wellness exams, pregnancy testing and options counseling, pregnancy termination, breast, cervical and testicular cancer screening, std/hiv testing and treatment, etc. Currently ppncny has health centers in lowville, watertown, canton, ogdensburg, malone, saranac lake, and plattsburgh. Had approximately 12,599 family planning and 621 abortion visits.
other programs operated by ppncny include: sexual assault services, which provided counseling and support services to survivors and their families in clinton, franklin and essex counties, along with a 24-hour hotline; community health worker, which provides reproductive life plan education and support to pregnant and parenting at-risk families. Sexual violence prevention program "enough is enough" on college campuses with all incoming freshman.
education and outreach program staff provided unintended pregnancy prevention education to children and young adults. Programs were provided at four correctional facilities, several drug-treatment programs and for young males on probation. The number of children and numbers of education outreach programs that were put on: 10,000 children during 600 programs.
