Programs: Planned parenthood of the central and western new york, inc (ppcwny) is a nonprofit organization that provides reproductive health care to men and women in the central and western ny area. Ppcwny is licensed by new york state article 28 of the public health law. Ppcwny delivers high quality, affordable reproductive health care including: annual exams, pregnancy testing, breast and cervical screening, all fda approved contraceptive options, counseling, pregnancy termination, and sti and hiv screening. Currently, ppcwny has health centers in buffalo, west seneca, niagara falls, north tonawanda, rochester, syracuse, greece, batavia, canandaigua and wheatfield and has approximately 42,100 visits annually. Other programs operated by ppcwny include:
restore sexual assault services, formerly rape crisis services, provided 2,500 survivors of sexual assault and their significant others counseling and support in monroe, genesee, livingston, orleans and wyoming counties, engaged over 9,000 people through community education programs and professional training. Restore has mou's with nine college campuses in its five-county region. Restore is the assigned rape crisis program for seven correctional facilities with its prison rape elimination act (prea) program, and has an mou with a federal detention center in addition to providing services to all county jails in its jurisdiction. In wyoming county, restore also provides domestic violence services to survivors in need. Restore's ability to serve the deaf and hearing-impaired community has been strengthened with a collaboration of two other partner agencies to make services more accessible the this community.
ppcwny provided outreach and education services to 43,724 people in schools, community and faith-based settings in 18 counties of central and western new york, which include chautauqua, cattaraugus, erie, niagara, orleans, genesee, wyoming, monroe, livingston, wayne, ontario, yates, seneca, cayuga, oswego, onondaga, cortland, and madison. Outreach and education services include offering and arranging for family planning and sexual health services, evidence-based sex education programs aimed at reducing unintended pregnancies emphasizing teens, prevention of sexually transmitted infections including hiv and hepatitis c, promoting and empowering healthy vs unhealthy relationships, and prevention and intervention of relationship and domestic violence. As part of outreach and education programs, ppcwny operates two youth drop-in centers, in-control in rochester, ny and the connection in niagara falls, new york. Youth development programs include safe spaces, recreation, daily food for youth, ground to plate food and cooking programs, homework help, music and theater development programs, videography, dance, color guard, and civic and community service projects.
