Horrible experience with the Executive Director. She told a wild contradicting story about Oregon Humane and how they don't take their animals back, but also they took back one dog 6 times. During our conversation she expressed actual breed prejudice against German shepherds and made some broad statements about every dog born during COVID or on native reservations. She has no background in animal care- she said she was a French major and was a bartender before somehow getting an executive position. It's sick the board allows someone with open prejudice against dogs and with no actual animal training to decide which animals are kept and which are put down.

I have had the most traumatic experience with this crazy woman. I don't use that word lightly. She has no idea the signals of what a dog needs what they're trying to say what fears they might have. No compassion whatsoever. She kills dogs daily yes she calls it euthanization but they don't deserve it! If you bring a dog in as I did and they're scared immediately they should be euthanized. As soon as she took a look at my dog with 5 seconds she said the dog should be euthanized. I said I can't believe that you would say that my dog is just a little scared and deserves love and compassion and she said your dog is too noisy and your dog is not going to do well so your dog should be euthanized. This is one of the most traumatic experiences ever happened in my life. Unfortunately I didn't read the reviews before coming to see her. She is mentally unstable clearly, and if you look at Yelp and you Google reviews for pixie project and you see Reddit and all of these other areas you will see literally dozens upon dozens of reviews the talk about the fact that she euthanizes so many pets with people thinking that their pets are going to get rehomed and loved and they're not they're going to be killed! She does communal cremation where the ashes go somewhere in Washington to plant trees so they'll grow and you know she's making money from this. She is a money hungry, non-compassionate, obsessed with euthanization of dogs and cats, a very dangerous person!
Please under no circumstances take your pets there they will be killed.
WARNING- your dog or cat will be put to sleep which equals killed! There's even a review on here from a past employee that says 90% of the animals that come into the shelter she wants them to be euthanized and they get to be euthanized. The employee was so traumatized that they're still not over it and neither am I! Please stay away from this dangerous dangerous person!

I worked at the Pixie Project and I am still recovering from the trauma along with the over 20 employees who left this last year. Every single one of them left because of the toxic environment created by the director. I honestly don't know if I've ever met a more horrible, mean, fake, narcissistic person in my life. I don't know why she's in this field because she treats both animals and people horribly. She over rides Veterinarians and behavior experts and makes the decision to euthanize about 90% of the dogs that come in. She lies to the public, and convinces them to relinquished beloved pets, swearing she will find them a home, only to euthanize them without ever even being seen by an expert. She speaks horribly to the staff, she belittles, talks down on, screams at and bullys us. Everyone is on egg shells around her and can't stand her. Literally most of us had to quit with no notice and then block her so we wouldn't be the victim of continued abuse. But we could leave. The animals can't. She spreads staff so thin and can't keep good people because it's not worth working with her, and the animals suffer and are neglected because of it. Then when the animals start to struggle with kennel stress, she kills them. Please please do not support this organization and under no circumstances ever relinquish an animal to them or allow Amy to convince you that your dog needs to be euthanized. She literally tells almost everyone that.

Have attached the emails from the staff about the appointment. Got there at 8:30 am, and only one wearing a mask was told I didn't feel out forms. I went over the email a few times before going and did all the steps I was told in the emails. Staff, guess Amy said, "I always put in the link so you didn't read all the email." I did and was told no but rude Amy. I've tried to reply to Amy to let her know and email will not go through to that email. Was just going to address the human mistake that was made but clearly Amy doesn't make mistakes. That attitude like that is disgusting in general, then to work with the public is not a good mix. This is my first interaction and will be my last. I'm glad I was turned away because I would never give people like that any of my money or allow handle my pet which is my family. What if something happened to my pet? The response would have been "we don't make mistakes." Some better resources and places have better businesses helping and actually want to help. Give them your hard-earned money. Look up Humane Society and Multnomah County Animal Services they have places that will actually help and care for deserve your hard-earned money and take care of your beloved family.

We were referred here by our vet, as we were attempting to rehome an animal with a medical condition. After explaining everything about the situation, and after the person on the phone praised us for trying all the things we have, this person then told us that our cat should just be put down because nobody is gonna take her....... when we disagreed, we were told "that's fine, you can keep her."

I'm still in shock.

Whoever that was on the phone, you don't deserve to have the privilege of working with animals in need of help. Absolutely disgusting behavior. The lack of humanity, lack of common sense, lack of compassion. If you think an animal with allergies is a lost cause who should be put down, then a) you shouldn't be working with animals and b) whoever hired you should be ashamed of themselves.

I hope nobody ever has to go through what we just experienced.

I had to place an older dog (that I adopted after a friend committed suicide). I contacted the Pixie Project, after Dove Lewis recommendation. Despite the organization's horrible reputation, I reluctantly reached out for assistance. The organization's founder was not only arrogant, verbally abusive, self-centered and opportunistic, she demanded more than $2000.00 to take the dog.

In a desperate attempt to get this beloved old dog placed, i also posted him on a website 'rescueme.org' besides contacting the SPCA. and the Pixie Project. When I didn't receive responses from this website I begrudgingly went to the Pixie Project.

Without options, I gave the crazy founder of the organization $2000.00. However within a couple of days some people began responding to my ad on rescueme.org.

I directed them to the Pixie Project to pursue adoption and BECAUSE THE FOUNDER TOLD ME HOW DIFFICULT THE DOG WOULD BE TO PLACE, I assumed that she would be thrilled to have interest in the 'hard to place dog'.

What I instead experienced from this crazy woman was a series of verbally abusive threatening voicemails. WOW! I told her to keep my money, give me the dog back and stop threatening me. Instead she refused to do any of those things.

BOTTOM LINE - THIS IS THE CRAZIEST MOST SELF SERVING NARCISSIST I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED.

The Pixie Project rescues animals and finds them homes. Also, they donate funds for spay and neutering. Wonderful people and the best cause ever.
