Causes: Environment, Parks & Playgrounds
Mission: Pittsburgh trails advocacy group is a volunteer group dedicated to designing, building and maintaining narrow dirt trails in city, county, state and other parks in western pennsylvania. We work with landowners to address their concerns about the trails, and using volunteers, conduct trail work so that the trails have a miminal impact on the environment. Our trails are designed in accordance with the trail guidelines put forth by the international mountain biking association. We advocate for well-designed trails that are open to many different user groups, including but not limited to mountain bikers, hikers, dog walkers and runners. We work for better relations between trail user groups.
Programs: To provide services in the form of volunteer work to maintain and build trails for city, county and state parks. On occasion and with permission of the landowner, we provide material for building small wooden structures such as footbridges, kiosks and signs for the trails.
